I mean how every person online has a 5 star rating despite some of them being total d***s.

I don't know why but I got a 46% trash talk rating despite never really saying anything bad to other teams besides the occasional jerks in Gears. I don't know if this number represents all the people I've ever played with or just the % of people who complained.

They should change it so not leaving a rating doesn't automatically give you a positive rating like it does now. This way some people who are just unpleasant to play with will not have a 5 star rating and can help keep 3 stars away from 5 stars in matchmaking.

Yeah I want an improvement... maybe you could rate them 1-5 stars along with what they did.. and you should be able to select more than one and this would be available for everyone one to see

No, its all irrelevant. I'm at like 84% disapproval and it doesn't mean anything, mostly unsporting. (aka your better and I'm butt hurt about it) Mostly from my COD4 days. I do so miss hate mail.
Made me feel like a man beating on a bunch of 13 year olds like a drunk step pops whos been out of work for the last 6 months and has father issues of his own... Ah, good times.

I say just remove it entirely. It doesn't do anything, I'm still put in games with people I have avoided, so it really doesn't make any difference.

im quoting these people because i agree.

it's a completely pointless feature that, if it worked properly, would only be taken advantage of.

you kill someone in call of duty, what do they do? they avoid you.

I had a call while i was working a few days ago, the kid was crying that he was 70% avoided or something crazy like that, and he was afraid he was going to get banned.

I advised him that he was not going to get banned. When i took a look at his account and read through the notes that the previous callers had dealt with him, he had SEVERAL other calls like the one i was dealing with, also had several calls where he was complaining about abuse from other players. The way he was crying, i can't say i wouldn't avoid him either. I don't want to play with a kid who cries everytime i kill him in an online shooter or something.

What I find crazy is that I have 30something percent avoid me because of trash talking, and here's the kicker I never plug my mic in unless I'm in a party with friends. It's a halfa**ed system. It just never got implemented correctly. It's a disconnect from Xbox Live with game developer that develop multiplayer games for Xbox. Matchmaking doesn't take into consideration what a persons rep is. They could try to fix it, but it just would be further abused. At the moment it just serves as a way for an angry person to try to get back at someone through giving negative feedback. Instead of sending them a swear filled message that could get you in trouble, just give them negative feedback.

It could be useful and interesting to see it be upgraded, but at the same time, would it work all that well? because of all of the random negative points (or so it seems). I once was playing Capture the Flag on Call of Duty 3 and wanting to win for my team, but my teammate kept killing me in a ranked match (I think?) because, well, I don't know why... and he gave me bad feedback. He was always guarding the flag so nobody would put it down on the team we were on. I eventually just shot him back and then won the match for us all, then he sent me a voice message and bad feedback. My first bad feedback on my new account after about a year... it's silly.

I have a bunch of disapproval ratings because of unsporting (as someone else said, it's the go-to rating for "you're better than me so I think I'll give you a bad rating"), overly aggressive (which to me just means I played the darn game the way it was supposed to be played.. again one of those things where people don't like losing to you), and I think that's it. I don't think I've ever been reported for trash talking or anything but I wouldn't put it past people to rate me low for that even though I don't usually trash talk to anyone. I think if they're gonna have a 5 star rating system they first need to fix the whole approval/disapproval system because it's very easy for anyone to say anything negative about you even though you're just playing the game. I don't want to be reflected as a 2 star player just because a few people thought I was "overly aggressive" online.

If by fix you mean remove, then yes.

There are always going to be those people that use the rating system to vent. Like mentioned "You beat me, so I'm going to give you a low approval rating." As well as people that give positive or negative ratings for no reason. I have a pretty high avoidal rate for trash talk, despite the fact that I've never even owned a mic. It's pointless as it isn't representative of the actual person at all. Some real jerks can have a 5 star rating, while some people that are perfect companions online can have a 2 star rating.

I don't honestly understand why it is even there.

Rep system is broken. Racist Douchebags and other horrible people have good reps for some reason. I also have 5 stars but I have 83 percent avoided , 17 percent preferred. I am not a bad player people just don't like me beating them or whatever. The only time i trash talk or teamkill is if someone is already doing it to me.

lol the teamkilling thing is funny too to me. I think some of my "unsporting" behavior avoidance has come from times when I've accidentally team killed in CoD. I remember one particular time a few months ago I was playing Black Ops and we were running around on Hardcore mode and some teammate of mine randomly jumped up in front of my face while I was shooting someone. Is it my fault he got in the way? Well needless to say I did say "my bad you got in my way" in the mic but that didn't stop him from coming after me. Again.. and again.. and again.. :| I'm guessing he went after my rep as well. That's exactly why this system wouldn't work out that well. Certain situations make it possible for people to hate you for random reasons. Sometimes they don't even need a reason. Some people will report you just for being better than they are in a game. Does this seem childish to any of you? Oh.. that's right, there are many MANY 12 year olds and under on Xbox Live. There's really no good way to implement the star system, it would give us all terrible ratings and you'd see a lot of people complain about their ratings. I honestly think they should either do away with it or just let everyone keep their precious 5 stars like they do now.

the whole rep system is a joke, it's only there for when butt-hurt players can whine about other gamers who are better than them. guaranteed all my negative feedback came from people that i was better than.

I can't even view my rep. It's been stuck on 3 stars since I created my gamertag and every time I try to view it, it says it can't retrieve it.

The math, or verbage of how it's presented at least, is clearly off. When it says x% of players avoid you, it really means x% of players whotook the time to rate/reviewyou. Either that of I'm really avoided by a frighteningly high number of people.

There is an option to avoid the player because they were too skilled compared to everyone else, but no one ever seems to use that one because it's like admitting that you're a noob that gots his a** handed.

I wonder if anyone out there has an account lower than 5 stars cause I've never seen it besides accounts that were just made and those reach 5 within 3 days.

Anyone out there know someone with less than 5 starswho has had an account for over a year?

Honestly, they really could get rid of it. Does anyone actually quick check out gamecards in random lobbies to see if everyone's got positive rep with the intention of leaving if that's not the case?

I AGREE!. They need to change it so that every time someone friends you, it also registers that individual as preferring you. The way it is now, they have to submit a rating. Usually the only time people do this is when they are pissed.

I think with the new dashboard update they will be getting rid of the rep system (stars but not the liking or disliking of players) and the zone from the gamercard but i could be wrong.

It doesn't seem very fair. I've played since the Elite was released and one person rated me positively and one gave me a "quit early" in an Overlord match where I got a RROD in the middle. That was maybe 3 years ago, still it says 50% quit early. Don't think anyone checks that, but it doesn't look very good haha.

He kept killing you b/c they were playing a point match and running up their score to the 100's. To get to the general achievement sooner.

Yes it really should. ATM your rep depends on how many people have actually taken the time to review you even if it's good or not.

everyone would have bad rep. nobody goes and reviews players with good stuff. the only time people use the feature is when they are mad at the person.

Maybe but I think my trash talk is at 30% and I never ever ever trash talk so......The only reason I can see anybody on live wouldn't want to play with me is that I'm not the best at all games. I'm polite, pretty quiet and work well with a team and yet I have a 30% trash talk? I just stopped paying attention.
