Let me first say three things ( DISCLAIMER kind of)

1. Due to my love towards the psychological thriller genre, i found it hard to find a decent, interesting, thought-proviking games since i finished Deadly Premonition.

2. This is the first ever Silent Hill i am playing. I know, i feel dissapointed myself for not picking up on the series earlier.

3. Please do NOT post any spoilers as i have not finished the game yet.

OK, done with the disclaimer, so yes, i went to GameStop the other day to look around, pre-order New Vegas and to see if they have any good titles for XBOX 360 or PSP. I did not want to buy online, as i needed a game to play asap, since i do not have anything to play. I picked up Silent Hill: Homecoming, knowing that it got a mediocre score on GS (6/10), and i knew it was a horror-themed game, but never expected it to be such a mind-blowing and bending experience.

I am on Chapter 7 now, and i do not know how it will all work out in the end but for the psychological thriller (and not only horror) fans this game is a must.

Here is a bold, bold statement, but honestly, i am enjoying this game way more than Alan Wake...

I also do not know how Homecoming measures up to the other games in the series, but i think the game is unbelievably good as a whole...

ok i agree with you so much, it should get at least a 7.0 or more the only thing i find wrong about the game is the flashlight for one it isnt that bright but i mean having it on or off really does not change much when u are playing and also i think the story is kinda to straight ford not like the other games where you play it and then you are kinda stumped on what just happened in the end and then it makes you go back to played that game again again and again to find out what happened but no this one for me i still like it its one for my top 5 silent hill games my num 1 is silent hill 2 then next would proably have to be the first silent hill then in 3rd silent hill 3then origins or homecoming but id check out silent hill 3 it seems to be everyones top silent hill pick but be warned to get the story in silent hill 3 you must play the first one because silent hill 3 takes place 17 years after the original silent hill 1 and to like silent hill 4 its based on opinion ipersonally dont like it but for ppl who play it its about a 50 to 50 chance to like it but yah i would check out the first 3 they are amazing and one more thing i no ppl dont like homecoming but it is a very fun game to me its one of my tops adn one more thing shatterd memories sucksssss azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I love that game to death. Im now going to break your rules; as I put much shame on you for not playing the others. I love Silent Hill. All of them.

Btw, dont go by a single review score. Go to Metacritic.com cause they compile all the major reviews from magazines/websites and put them together.

Silent Hill: Homecoming has like a 71/100 or something average.

Dude if you loved this game and this is the first you played in the series, your in for a treat because the other ones are like 1000 times better IMO. Homecoming is still a good game though.

he's completely right. The series kind of went downhill after 3, but if you have access to a system that plays PS1 titles, try to find the earlier titles. They really are amazing, and better than Resident Evil IMO for survival horror.

I've always stood up for this game, and it's much better than what it's given credit for, and i'm a huge fan of the horror genre. The biggest problem with it is the huge lack of polish, and other minor things that I wont go into because of spoilers. It doesn't stand up to the original 3 SH games though. The only SH game i have disliked is Origins. It was just not good enough. I can can rant on this all day, but i will bore everyone.

I loved Origins. The main theme is the best Silent Hill song i have heard to be honest. The game itself was ok, but it was good considering it was on the PSP.

I have to admit that Origins has some nice music. O.R.T (opening to the game) was my fav in the game. Also Hometown is a good piece but that was actually the end music from the third game. I posted this a few years ago now, but these are some of the reasons why I dislike Origins. Origins was horrible, had the worst and most unlikable protagonist ever, and really does have some of the worst delivered dialog I ever seen. It was like forcing myself to care for a piece of wood. The tiny locations really sucked, the monsters sucked, the story was unbelievably weak, the combat sucked, it wasn't scary, no depth in any characters what's crucial. What was up with the boss fights? Not only the worst in the SH series but the worst I have ever seen in game history! All you do is stand in a corner and shoot and you don't get hit lol, and the last boss looked more like ifirit from the ff games. Let me also bring up the reused enemy models. They were too lazy to make more so all they did was blow them up by 3 times and stick them later down the road. Even boss 3 got turned into a mob later in the game, talk about lazy, and the game was only 4 to 6 hours long! I could go on. Another thing that annoyed me about Origins was the fact you had total control of controlling the otherworld by touching mirrors. It took all the scare factor out of the game, most of the puzzle were basically built around that function. I can also bring up the reason why I liked Homecoming far more, but only if anyone is interested in my opinion (probably not lol)

I agree completely.
It was more like the awful Saw films than anything
