i hate skate.Mikerules868
So why do you hate skate? Do you not like skateboarding or do you prefer more of an arcadey skateboarding game? I'm just wondering because you gave no reason why.
I've played all Tony Hawk games , after playing skate i did understand what skateboarding game is ,
This game is more like a simulation not arcade at all

Yeah, I actually prefer more of a realistic skateboarding game now after playing the Skate demo because it makes you feel good when you rip off a nice combo because you were in complete control of it. I can't wait to get to try the Big Jump in the X-Games (as well as compete in the X-Games) and I can't wait to cruise around town and see how many things can be used to pull tricks off of. Is there any type of MP in Skate? They should let you cruise the city with your buddies or something. That would be killer!

i just dont think its fun. so what it might be a bit more 'rewarding' but i dont care. all i was doing in the demo was flicking the RS hopeing i would do the trick right.
Now that i think about it, i dont really like the way EA is going, with using the sticks more than they should be used.
I didnt like the look of skate from what I read and seen screenshot wise. But as the demo is free I downloaded exoecting to be able to back up my impressions of the game but...
The moment I did the first olie I was hooked. The demo certainly did change my whole view on the game.
After reading this thread, I will give the demo a try. I was ignoring it because it has one of the most generic titles I've ever heard of.Bubble_Man
thats kind ignorant of you...

Not really. When there are tons of games to choose from, people first look into the ones that catch their attention.
I was on the fenceas to whether I was going to buy Skate outright or rent it first.... until I played the demo! I have never played such a sick skateboard game in my life! This game totally gives you the feeling of being in COMPLETE control of your character and it's way more fun pulling off tricks because they are much more realistic (as opposed to THPS). It's also one of the smoothest games when it comes to flow and controls. Sure it's a bit tough to get used to the controls but once you do it's amazing! Has anyone else had their mind changed one way or the other after playing the demo?nickdastick
me too im definately buying this game

well it's not always EAs fault I also hate their basketball and other sports game but you've got to admit they're trying to change with FNR3, Def Jam, NBA Street, they're just publishers after all and the only thing they suck at is developing sports game but because this might be(not sure) they're first take on simulating skating they sure do a heck of a job impressing me. And as for the rewarding part isn't it part of playing a game being rewarded or feeling happy that you got through something?
idk as for me a former skateboarder in real life...i found that i liked tony hawk cause that game was insanely fun and in depth with every single customization aspect about it...while skate is a more real life like game which is kinda odd to me since y bother skating realistically in a video game when u can buy a skateboard for $70 bucks and do it in real life..sure u might get hurt but that was kinda the fun part about it ...getting up and having enough courage to do it over..idk thats just me tho outbreak201
well this explanation of yours work with shooting games as well why not buy guns huh? Why not drive cars instead of playing forza? why play sports games when you could play it outside?

did I say it's not a sport? what I'm trying to say on that line was that you play games just because you can't do it in real life and not everybody(speaking up for those who can't walk or are just not good) can skate. And for the record I wasn't trying to talk you into buying a gun it's an example E-G-Z-A-M-P-O-L
I was going to overlook this game but the posts on this forum made me give it a chance and I can say I really enjoyed the demo. I wasnt expecting it to be as good as it is, I had Tony Hawks number 3 on PS2 and got really bored really fast but the demo is really good. The graphics are nice and the controls work well. You feel good when you pull a good move off and get a good ammount of points going. This has become something I am thinking of buying (although I am not sure of the release, Amazon has it down for the 31st of August but Play.com and Game have it down for 21st September so no idea when its out in the UK).
I am supprised how well EA have done as the game combined with the music and other things they can bring to the game makes this really good (I didnt expect much of this game but its very good and well worth trying).

Agreed. It's now a must buy for me.
the only thing i didnt like was the camera angle....made it hard to get the right angles to hit curtain rails....only thing i didnt likesavvagesoldierthats about all i didnt like either i kept on missing the rails too. i hope you can change the angles in the real game
I can definately see the appeal to skate. from a skaters point of view. I found the game controls very intuitive and the game itself alot more realistic. But to be honest, I don't skateboard, so I don't really want to play a skateboard sim either. It was fun for a while, but I got bored of it. If I were a skater though I definately be picking it up.
My general opinion on sports games are, just go play the damned sport. Games are for doing things external to real life, things that you can't normally do on your own. Obviously there are some exceptions like disabled people, or obese people, but I'd rather go buy a board and try it IRL then play a sim.
