Well, before I played the Skate demo, I was thinking, THPG is going to be the best, just look at it, it's amazing, new video features and such. Then I played Skate. I think I went to heaven. Everything felt so much more real, I had more control, and I just enjoyed the experience much more. The skill required to time my grinds correctly, the touch necessary to go into a manual from a flip trick, it all felt so much better. Anyways, I was wondering what other people thought about this. I decided that I'm not buying a single game upon release this season, I'm waiting for reviews on every single one, which means that I'm holding off on Skate until THPG comes out and I can compare the reviews. But I was wondering what other people thought. Any opinion?

PS - I think it's the spawn of a new era, EA actually made a good game.

well i liked skate right from the beggining i got sick of the tony hawk games because it was the only one out there and personally i think THPG is the same as the last game with some extra stuff. Skate is a lot more fun and a lot more satifying. Pulling offnice buttery nollie flips off the rail is so nice.

Skate is a nice change from all the TH games out there... Its much more realistic I would have to agree to that... And yes I think I would go with Skate... Its a change to the better... But its what you like...

I'm getting both, but if I had to choose just 1 it would be Skate. While the Tony Hawk series have been able to gimmie my "fix" if you call it; Skate reminds me of the 1st time I played THPS1 back in 1999, where i was actually excited about the game lol. Yeah the camera is a bit twitchy but thats such a small flaw to an outstanding game. ;)

As much as I have loved the TH franchise back in day especially, I doubt it will get any better aytime soon.

skate. on the other hand has a very innovative control scheme making it way more satisfying to pull tricks.

Making it a more rewarding experience overall so my vote goes to SKATE. !!!!!! ;)

Proving Grounds... yea they definitely have alot to prove. ahahahaha!

After playin the demo of skate I dont think i ever want to play a TH game again. It's so much more realistic. I can't wait to see what locations they have to skate on.

skate looks boring

no one wants to do realistic tricks, people want to go overboard

I'd rather have tony hawk

Skate was REALLY good, THPG will be great also but I recommend people buy Skate; brings out a fresh new vibe.

Yup, skate it is, it actually seems to focus on skating, as a former skater it is definitely more appealing than THPG, it's been the same game ever since THPS3.

Thug was no hit in my book, and for me Skate is revolution, skate is the culture of skating captured inside a game, not only is it a TH series rival, it's gonna knock mr.Hawke off the throne

I havn't really looked into skate personlly but from past exspearinces I've learned that Tony Hawk is really the only way to go when it comes to skate baording video games. However we'll see if skate is a good game or not. It seems EA has been turning out some very good games these past couple years.

Well EA produce and distribute, 3rd parties develope the games, so you can't really blame EA for their success ;).

And it's true, TH HAS BEEN the only way to go so far, and here comes the change for the better.

You just have to get use to the controls, that's the only thing I don't like.

Sorry, man. Tony Hawk all the way. I've loved Tony Hawk since I played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (on the GameCube, no less) with my friend for almost an entire weekend. I love that series. I've played every game, and I've owned 4 of them. I was really mad when my copy of Tony Hawk's Project 8 broke. I still don't know how that happened. But, yeah, played the skate. demo, and I think it's fun, just not something I could play for a very long period of time. I may pick it up when it gets down to $20-$30 range.

If you don't know how it broke, maybe a circle of scratches was created? here's a tip, lay your 360 down, dont stand it up, it'll chew you dvd's up, I lost ES Oblivion to this crappy deal.

On first play-through I wasn't crazy for Skate, but as I have played it more I have began to enjoy it a lot more. That isn't to say THPG will be bad, I think they will both be fun in their own ways.

I've never bought a skating game, they all seemed pretty lame. The skate demo, however, was absolutely fantastic, and I will probably pick it up.

If it scores well, I'd go with SKATE. I'm not that big a fan of the overboard antics in the TH games.

Thanks for the help, but I've never had my 360 in the vertical position. And actually, there is a crack in the disc. But again, thanks for the tip, I'll pass it on to others.
