I just picked up Tony Hawk 2x for $3 and it's so sweet. I'd say Tony Hawk anything for nostalgia purposes alone. Okay, I'm not much help to you, except I bumped your thread and gave props.

Well Tony Hawk doesn't have any nostalgia really. The games have only really added features that should've been added years ago. Proving grounds only adds to what Project 8 didn't have. Project 8 was more like a return to basics after how bad American Wasteland was but it was limited but PG just adds onto it with more clothing customisation, new nail the trick stuff, video editor and a new word. It seems so much like an expansion pack rather than a new game. Project 8 had very little customisation and nail the trick was one of the worst innovations in the TH franchise, I didn't use it outside of the actual nail the trick moments. Nevasoft are just trying to find reason to keep shealing out a new TH game year after year and even if PG ends up being the best TH due to all it's content, where do they go from here? Adding more clothes? Refining the video editor? I think they really need to take a break from making the TH games and give themselves time to really think up some better ideas.

I have to disagree, when you have a sequel to the game what do you want, new levels, new ways to customize charcters and added features that is what you expect and that is exactly what you get. Plus the nail the trick feature was dope you literally customized you own kicks and spins in mid air, while in slow motion, with a close up. Honestly skate may look dope but I doubt it will have all the classic features like Tony Hawk. What do you want them to add to the game?

personally i hate tony hawk games. i hate how you can go out and it be your first day or whtever and you do a mctwist as you first trick. I think tony hawk games ar far from real skating, so i would try out skate before tony hawk.

You mean in real life I can't land a 900 kickflip + kickflip + indy? Yeah, that's a newsflash.

i've recently got back into playing THP8 and it's an awesome game, definitely refreshing after the horrid THUG games. However, I've grown tired of TH games and will make the transition to SKATE this year. The whole analog control to create moves is amazing, I love what EA developers are doing with the analog sticks (NHL and skill stick as an example).

i hate the over the top tricks on THPS game...

skate is more down to earth and u have a huge city that is open for skating from the 1st time u play, so no unlocking tricks or new lvls...

id say Skate.

depends on who u are, and what u like. i like skateboarding, so i appreciate the realism of skate, and that's why i prefer it over tony hawk games atm. here's the deal:

from what i've seen of skate, it's realistic, and the animations are amazing,,,, especially with the sketchy landings off of rails (i love em so much). The whole 'security' thing makes it more appealing, and the fact that 12million point combos are non-existant is a major PRO. i'd rather see the smoothest kickflip off a 7set get 200 points than see a 50combo move get 50 times as many points. In skate... "lines" will actually be "lines" as opposed to "combos" if u get what i mean. Plus, skate is new, and for a first time game... it's looking awesome... a much anticipated change from the same old Tony Hawk series, which i've begun calling 'a button mashing game' ever since these 'flickit' controls were revealed.

definitely skate. how unrealistic the tony hawk games are just annoys me. they're only fun for a few minutes anyway. plus skate has better pros...actually the pros who are big right now.

It really depends on what you like. If you like realism then Skate is your choice. Even for the single player i'd say skate. But if you want to have fun with your friends or have fun online just do fun things (Sure some things are fake) but still they make it fun knowing that you can pull tricks like that off. Think of it this way Skate is for yourself, Tony is for you, your friends, online

well i think now that skate is out and is pretty freakin awesome, I played the demo and it rocks!...  now tony hawk games are gonna have to make real significant improvements to keep up
i know i won't be buying another tony hawk unless the overhaul the games something wicked to compare with the awesome phics/gameplay of skate
