should i get a small, cheap, flimsy, possibly faulty hdtv from walmart, or should i get a computer monitor+a vga cable? which has better picture quality? either way, i pay the same money.(approx. $350)

i am also considering one of those apple displays. are they any good for x360 gaming?

Walmart has service agreements for pretty cheap, so if it's faulty you can get it fixed or replaced.

I am runningon a 22" acer monitor. It's great I say go for the monitor.

One thing VGA can't play old xbox games.

The apple displays are AWESOME computer displays, but don't use one for the 360. They only have a DVI input (which rocks on a computer), but you can only do VGA from the 360. You could do a DVI-VGA adapter, but you get some weird artifact on the screen when you do that (slightly offset image, kinda like a 3d movie but not as obvious). Stick with a VGA monitor.

Of course it can. I've played Halo:CE, Max Payne, and Splinter Cell on my Hanns G monitor. I don't know what you're talking about.

Even if you buy a HD TV, still get a VGA cable, its much better picture quality than component viode. (make sure the TV you buy has VGA input)

I have my eye on this one, it might fit your needs. 23" 720p w/ an 8ms response time, and a good selection of inputs. This company has been in the computer monitor business a while so I'm not a weary about them as some other cheap manufacturers.
