And now it is virtually unplayable:cry:, there was some sort of weird noise in the 360 then all of a sudden my TV display went fuzzy. Does the 360 frequently scratch discs like this? Because I might probably resort to support piracy for some games:?

It does scratch games but only if it's been moved. Did the table or what ever shake while the disc was in tray? Best way to prevent disc scratching is to install the game so it doesn't have to spin and to make sure the surface in which the 360 lies on is stable. You might not want to announce to the world that you plan to pirate...

So, you're going to punish the software developer for something that is a hardware issue. :? Like someone else said, the 360 usually only scratches discs if it has been moved.

Try and install your disc onto the hardrive and if you are lucky then the game should be playable, if not it means you may have to buy a new one.

Just buy a used copy of L4D at GameStop. Put your old disc in the case and take the working one, return it a few days later and say it didn't work. I just did that for my COD:WAW disc not to long ago, didn't run into any problems.

Installing it is the best solution. Also make sure you don't move your Xbox accidentally.

If you have a hard drive, and play a game a lot, just install it. Keeps the disc drive fresh, and doesn't scratch.

That's what you get for not installing your games.
