I think they could do some pretty cool stuff with it. For example, in an FPS, mabye you would hold your hands like you were holding a gun and to shoot you would twitch your finger. And to move around you would just walk in place or something. To go prone you would, well, go prone. same with crouching, jumping, climbing. And to ADS you would bring the gun up to you face.

It seems cool =D

If you are into motion controls then Kinect is by far the best or at least has the most potential. Having said that, I hate motion controls and the only interest I have in Kinectic is for video chat and voice recogition and that isn't worth $150.

Yes, there's no question it could do some impressive stuff, but I'm not sure why anyone would want it. I've said this before and I'll say it 1000 more times: I do not want to exercise while gaming! That's what the gym is for, when I'm playing xbox I just want to chill on my couch not run around doing jumping jacks and flapping my hands in the air.

As the above poster said, the voice recognition stuff could be cool, but certainly not worth $150. And none of my friends are getting this either so video chat is a bit pointless.

Walking in place to walk forward sounds really awful, quite frankly.

If it was done well, and it didn't take a workout to go 2 feet in the game, it might be cool.

kinect might be quite good. the only reason i might buy it is if it can have some really innovative games that can make motion controls an awesome thing like fps, tps, rpg and stuff(if done properly) say a game like mass effect where u actually use your own voice and actions to talk and the characters actually understand it (instead of that milo crap).i wont buy it for those get-fit games because i have the entire world out there for me to roam around and a lot of different activities and sports.

How could you change where you look?

How many "buttons" can you have Kinect?

Maybe even a model of a fake gun can come with the FPS...who knows...maybe it's better than I thought.

Yeah and maybe after a while they'll make it even more realistic and sell shotguns at gamestop! Then you could really shoot! Oh wait... your TV... damn.
I think Kinect will be cool for really simple games and for voice/video interactive chat, but other than that, no. I will wait for a $99 or below price tag.

For this think of Kinect as a person with great kicking skill and a video game as a sport.

The problem is that no sport require just kicking to win. Soccer you need to be able to run fast and control the ball. Football the kicker have even less to do. Some sports does not have any kicking at all like Baseball.

I think Kinect will only be able to track larger parts of the body. Not fingers/ toes etc... But i'm interested to see what else companies will come up with.

I still don't think that sounds "cool" at all, honestly.

I play videogames after school/work/sports/parties and all I want to do is go lay on my bed and kick some locust or covenant's @ss kinnect substituting game pad controllers for shooters is one thing I hope we dont see as a standard. IMO videogames are for relaxing and having a good time, if I actually wanted to exercise id go outside or lift the weights on my room. Im glad cliffy B decided not to use kinnect on the gears saga.... Yeah im probably going to get kinnect but its not going to become my standard way of gaming...LOL check this cad comic on kinnect (no bashing, just a joke) http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20100621

So I was playing a FPS on my computer where I could not use my controller and found that the mouse and keyboard does not work well with FPS. In order to for around I had to lift my mouse up and mover it before I could finish the turn. And to change the speed I was moving from a speed walk to a slow walk I had to press to buttons. The joy sticks of the controllers care much better for this.

Like wise most RTS are not easy to control using a controller. I spent so much time sliding the window all over the battle field. Where using a mouse I could click the place I want to be in the mini map.

The point is that motion control could have a place but it does not cover all parts of gaming and can not do it well.

pointless for you and your friends but I think its to get the younger generation involved with gaming I've said it before and I'll say it a 1000 more times the kinect system at the momentis beingmarketed for the family market just like the Wii. The system at the moment was never designed for hardcore gamers and its getting tiring reading all the bashing for a system thats still not releasd and not yet designed for the shooter fan.

Fell free to complain if you buy it in NOVEMBER!! for your kids and it turns out rubbish. If people use the Nintendo Wii then people will use Microsoft Kinect or the Sony Eyetoy. Just because YOU dont like it does not mean its pointless!
