Nope. GameSpot seems to be the only website who doesn't like the game and I don't pay attention to their reviews anymore anyway since most of the time I don't agree with them. I also don't like the attitude or personalities of more than half of their editorial staff.

In this case, I can care less what Gamspot has to say. Halo Wars is not the greatest RTS ever and I didn't expect to be. It is, however, a VERY FUN game that has good controls, gameplay, graphics, sound, and a crisp feel. This game should have had at least an 8.0.

exactly. what ive noticed is that they lean more towards ps3 than 360. ill be honest i played metal gear solid 4 and by no means did that game deserve a ten. a 9 at best. also gta4, while fun as hell no way did it deserve a ten, with that i would say 8.5-9 at most. anyone remember kane and lynch. that whole little problem with the review.

No. I still want it. It's only one review. The other review sites all loved it. They're scoring it 8s and 9s.

It's unreasonable to not get a game just from one review.

Let's put it this way. The reviews were never pefect, but after Jeff left the reviews have gone down sharply in accuracy and quality. It's sad when a store's magazine, which can use its reviews to sell more games, has better quality reviews, aka Game Informer. OXM and IGN are also good too, but G spot has been really lame. An 8.5 to Mass Effect? A 10 to GTA IV?

yeah what i was thinking is that the user reviews are way better because they actually sat down and play the entire game while i found out the most review sites only play the first two levels or so

Really? Have you ever looked at Reviewer's gamerscores? They usually have over 100,000. I'm sure all they do is play the first two levels.

It didn't change my mind, not that I had an even slight thought about buying it. I just don't listen to any reviews, even though I do happen to agree with a lot of the user scores. Reviews are opinions, meaning they don't apply to everyone.

yeah actually i have. the ones i read described the last levels in deoth and the story.so that rules out your accusations.and gamerscores? how do you play just the first two levels of a game when to get most gamerscore you have to complete the story.

Nope. =P I played the demo and REALLY liked it(probably because I never played a CONSOLE RTS before, but...), and with the ability to be the Arbiter and have team battles in the full version, I highly doubt I'm going to dislike the full game.

I've read other reputable reviews that gave it a 9, it may not be as deep as other RTS games, but I think Halo Wars is aiming for action instead of pure chess like strategy. I think this sites review focused mainly on how the game held up to other RTS games out there that are mainly strategic games like Sins of a Solar Empire, which is awesome but a bit boring.

I never had high hopes for this game, plus it being released so close to SF4 and RE5 really made me change my mind into buying it. Now after seeing the review I really don't think I'll ever give it a try. I've played a few RTSs on PC and I do like to have some complexity and depth in those kind of games. I might rent it though.

not changed my mind at al,,,i know I sound like a halo fan in denial bt theres just sumin about the way the reviewer in this instance sounded like he was reviewing a pc game and ignoring what the game was tying to do

SO i think its one of those times that it might be a good idea to buy it myself and find out for certain, if I dont like it then fine i'll sell it on to someone else who wants a try so it cant hurt

I had saved up $120 to pre-order RE5 and Halo Wars for my birthday and payed for them both on January 1st. Now that it got bad reviews and I've played the demo(which I didn't like) I asked my mom if she could drive me to Gamespot to cancel it, but my brother is an A-hole and started whining about how he wanted Halo Wars so she won't let me cancel it cuz my stupid brother wants it! They're makin' me waste $60 on a game that I don't want, and the worst part is that I had to use my birthday money! I was cheated out of half my birthday money

Why would you pre-order a game you didn't want? The overall reviews are good for Halo wars if that's what you're worried about. Go to metacritic and look it up.

Well you should never pre-order anything before trying it out when there's a demo. Also the reviews for Halo wars give it an average rating of 83.

I totally agree with this. Halo Wars is one of the best RTS games I have ever played and it is definitly my favorite console RTS. I played the demo and really enjoyed it, it should have gotten at least an 8-8.5.

This isn't the only review out there. Most others say it's a good game so why would someone base their decision on the worst reveiw. I got the feeling that the reviewer was rating according to PC RTS's. The developers designed this game so it would play well on consoles for the casual gamer. It was not meant to be the game the reviewer was looking for. For what it is I think it works very well. I am looking forward to getting the game.

Since Jeff and Alex left I've lost all interest in Gamespot's reviews- the score of 6.5 didn't even make sense considering that Halo Wars is superior to LOTR BFMEII in almost every concievable way, yet Gamespot gave that game an 8.3. I'll still be getting this game. The demo is a condensed injection of Epic Pwnage as long as you play Skirmish and make sure to build uber-units.

Funny how most of you think a 6.5 is a worthless score, Games these days are so very over rated. I mean there are games getting a 10/10? How is that possible? a 10/10 would mean the game is PERFECT am I right? but is that even possible? There is ALWAYS room for improvement. I do actually think this game does deserves a 6.5 if not lower, game reviewers should review their games with more criticism and give out more realistic scores. There are barely any games which in my opinion deserve a score higher than a 7.5,
