and i almost had a heart attack , luckily when i unplugged the hard drive and replugged it it worked , just wondering does this mean that the hard drive wasn't attached well or does it mean it's going to die soon? because i have TONS of games and stuff on it that i need badly and cannot transfer (we're talking about 50 gig worth of data).

This is funny...the same thing happened to me last week and i just restarted the console, when i checked the "BROKEN 360" sticky, they said there is a slight chance that your xbox can be up for a "COMPLETE FAILURE" so if i were you i'd be a little bit cautious as well.

Usually that means that the hardrive isn't connect properly, just turn of system then plug in HD firmly and that should fix it. If that doesn't work contact the tools at xbox support cause your HD is about to fail.

To be safe, you could buy a 60GB with a transfer cable and back it up.... just in case.

u should go get a new hard drive and things. i've had that happen. i got the E68 error so i didn't have a hard drive to play on. i had to restart on all of my games that i have and redownload everything that i downloaded. luckily i got a new hard drive for free from Microsoft.
