but then as i was looking the system itself is $400, if i wanted to go online it would cost $50 for xbox live gold, and a whopping $100 for a wireless network adapter

that last one just seems rediculous, the tiny little nintendo ds can have a wireless network adaptor built in, but the xbox 360's cost 100 dollars more??? please tell me i'm not the only one who finds that unfair

Yea it sucks.....but wired connections are better anyway. You think the wirless adapter is a rip-off......The HDD smokes it as far as rip-offs go. Really though if you MUST go wireless, there is no other option unless you have, or can find one of those cheap adapters the Original xbox used.

they just plug into the ethernet port and the 360 reads it as a wired connection, but its actually wireless....I use to use one of those but I get way better speeds with a wired connection....50ft Ethernet cable at Wal-mart for $25.00:D

Do you have to use wireless?  It's cheaper and better to use wired.  I don't remember, but I really don't think gold is $50 right upfront.  It's $50 A YEAR.

yeah i guess if i must then i'll just run one of those ethernet cables from my living room to my computer whenever i want to go online, still though, it just doesn't seem like wireless should be so dang expensive.

Bill Gates you are rich enough already!!!

Ok getting kind of trollish man. If 4.11 a month is too much for dedicated service that is mostly run by MS and not the games publishers.....then I dont know what to tell you. Dont buy a soda or coffee evry day, and you can afford it. Actually if you get a pre-paid card you get 13 months so it comes out to $3.85 a month :P

What Online does the Wii have? Wii has none. PS3 has hardly any of the content for games that the 360 has, and they have a lot of the same games....Bah Im not gonna go any farther. System wars is that way>>>>>>If you want to know the difference/make arguments over online service I suggest you post there. AS some who has owned all 3 (360 PS3 Wii)..LIVE kills them all. Better service, better down load content, better arcade, better everything.

well way better has yet to be seen since no one has a ps3 and the wii hasn't started its online service yet, but i dont want to say anymore since this isn't system wars

but as far as games available and quality xbox blows both out of the water, at least for now

so penny pinching quibbles aside, what games should i get other then gears of war and oblivion?

Gears is good. But only if your into Online, the campaigne is WAY to short imo. Oblivion is great. I like Command and Conquer, Crackdown, Perfect Dark is a decent FPS. Prey was ok. Hated Rainbow 6 at first but its actually REALLY good if you like tactical shooters.

I didnt like GRAW or GRAW2. they are tactical but just dont do it for me. Saints Row is a good GTA clone if your into that. I hate to say it but even Kameo was fun lol. If you like Racers, PGR3 and Forza 2 are a blast. Its all about taste, I suggest looking at the 360's game list and checking reviews. There are quite a few games for every genre almost.

2 games to stay away from are FFXI and Quake 4.........those games were YUCK!

Its cool man, just didnt wanna see you get flamed. I posted kind of a games list above this post:D Oh and a few games I missed were King Kong and .....sigh GUN lol. Kong was short but hell now you could pick it up for nothing, and it was fun. GUN was really dissapointing visually but again now its cheaper than dirt, with really fun gameplay.

Well I've got a PS3 and PS3 online isn't anything to get exited about. Xbox live is well worth the money. As for what games you should get.....we're on a games site, go check out some reviews.

thanks, and one last question, is it worth it to buy that pelican fan, the one that plugs into the usb port not the intercooler which just speeds up the frying process?

I'm about to buy a 360 too and I have plans off the bat to already subscribe to Live. I've seen my friends and I must say that it has the best platform and useability that 50 bucks/year is more than worth it.

In comparison Xbox 360 is the most expensive console if you want to get everything out of it. But it also has the best games and future game line up. It's you're decision. If it's games don't speak to you in particular, you would be foolish not to reconsider buying one in all honesty.

Well C&C is a RTS while Perfect Dark is a FPS.......Personally if ur into shooter go for Perfect dark, as C7C can be difficult to just pick up and play...there are a lot of controls to figure out and stratagey is a must...as I get owned online all the time lol C&C is fun if you like stratagy but PD0 is a great First Person Shooter:D

Eidt...for some reason I thought you said C&C..LOL Id still take Perfect dark over Crackdown if you like shooters. Crackdown is ok but unless you are a unstructured free roam lover...it is really short lived
