I would assume, that as long as you use Crackdown to donwload the Beta, it should work. I mean they're hardly going to make you boot up Crackdown each time are they?

as far as I understand it yes they are going to make you load crackdown to play the beta, and therefore stop people renting the game for 2 days and playing the beta for 3 weeks. However, I would have thought you could play the beta whilst you have the rental copy.

you can play the beta, but you need to keep the disc to play it, the beta can only be accessed through the crackdown disc.

you need the crackdown disk to load the beta. so, if you want to play it you have to buy the game.

Sorry, but you will not be able to play the beta for Halo 3 if you did not purchase Crackdown when it first came out. Microsoft has constantly stated this over and over. They specifically said that the beta is only for certain individuals that purchased Crackdown early. You probably wont have to wait long for a demo though, because Microsoft wants everyone to enjoy their flagship game as much as possible.

At Family Video I can rent the game for 30 days for 12$, 2 dollars every 5 days. I'm sure it works. I'll tell if it does later :o

As long as you have a physical copy of Crackdown, you can play the beta. You need the disk itself, though. So yes it will work, temporarily anyway. Also, the Halo 3 beta is just as lame as the previous Halo. Halo is, imo, an overrated franchise.

ALL the copies of Crackdown have the beta, all you need to do to play is keep the disc in the drive.
