I've got some extra money burning a hole in my wallet and I want to upgrade my Xbox. However, I've read almost nothing but horror stories about faulty hardware and MS' "don't care" attitude when it comes to really addressing hardware issues. The massive "broken 360" thread at the top of this forum doesn't help, either. :( I want to snag a 360 because I love the games and I've always loved XBL. Can someone give me a little hope? How many Premium 360 owners still have their first console w/o issues?

Most people are morons who place their 360s next to radiators or in tight spaces. Just keep your 360 well spaced and ventilated and make sure you down move it while in operation. Besides if you buy a 360 now then really you shouldnt have any problems sine all the newer 360 models are bound to be much less faulty.

By the way im still on my first xbox 360, its just over a year old now.

The various surveys on failure rate average out to about 30%, not good. But do your research and see.

If you're really worried, I would definately say, just wait a few months (2-4), and pick one up. The new heat sinks might be in, making it less likely for you to have any issues.

Some 360s break down, some don't. That is what warranties are for, and the standard for 360 is one year. Most stores offer a service plan which is an additional $80 or so for 4 years (well worth it imo) in which case you can take it back to the store and they will try to repair it and if not, replace it.

The Xbox 360 is a fantastic system with a wide array of games. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, I strongly suggest you buy one as it is an excellent upgrade to the Xbox and you will not be disappointed.

Be Afraid... Very Afraid. No not really. Yes Xbox 360s breakdown but that is what warranties are for. And I do keep my Xbox 360 in a well ventilated area but I'm on my sixth Xbox 360. But the Xbox 360 is so worth it while it works for you there are so many games my friend. Besides, I hear alot of stories that people are still on their first Xbox 360. So I'm just unlucky so what. I haven't paid for any of my 360's to get fixed so it's all good. Buy a Xbox 360 you won't regret it.

I had my 360 for 16 months before it broke down. Even though I have to pay for $140 to get it fixed (only had a year warrenty on it) it's worth it to get it fixed, because like everyone said it has the best games on the market out of all the consoles. Especially with GTA IV, Halo 3 and Mass Effect coming out to name a few. Plus all the arcade games that my wife and kids like to play. So yea, I'd still get one even though I'd know it could break down at anytime whether it be a few months or 16 months like mine.

Personally I'm on my 4th system, but with the warranties and such I havent had to pay a dime. Some 360s break some dont, part of the breakings were my fault. I'd still have to tell you to get a 360 even after my troubles just because how awesome it is as well as the games coming out.

Pick One Up! You'll Luv it. USE THE WARRANTY if sumthing happens. I got one in November of 2006 and BrokeDown a month ago. I just called Microsoft about 2 hours ago for them to send me the Box so i can return it to them(I know it took a while but i had a psp and city of villians that made me forget about my 360). The customer service was great, to me atleast, took 5-10 mins to get the return going. If i had to do it all again, I WOULD. Even with it being broken sittin on my t.v. stand waitin for the box to come pick it up. It's worth it...for me atleast. its a Kick-Ass System with or without problems.

oh, heh, if you ever do call customer support. Ask to speak to an American that speaks English clearly. I swear everytime I call there is some foreigner talking and I can barely understand what the heck he is saying.

I don't understand people moaning like their life will end if they have to be without their console for two weeks while it is repaired or replaced. Don't people do other stuff? If you are afraid to buy one, then don't. Just stop polluting the boards with these kinds of threads because we aren't here to comfort you. You get a full one year warranty, and you can extend it. You know what kind of issues are out there, so there are no surprises. So honestly, what's to worry about?

Sadly it is true, 360's are known to be somewhat fragile...but hey, it's the price you pay for getting to play the best system to ever come out. Anyways, I guess I am lucky, I have add 0 problems with mine so far. Just give your 360 1 foot of space on all sides, and keep it off the rug and you should be fine.

Don't hesitate to buy one, there awesome. Just get a long warranty just in case.

I know what you mean, but on the flipside, it's a new piece of technology that costs hundreds of dollars. I think it's less of a "I have nothing now that my 360 is gone" mentality and more of a "well damn, that sucks. I just bought this thing" mentality. I bought one of Dell's Inspiron 5150s a few years ago and I could probably sear a few steaks with it; it overheated way too often. I just got it back a few days ago, had to reinstall XP and I'm still having memory/driver issues.

Anyway, I'll be on my merry way to buy a 360 and extended warranty tomorrow. :D
