But so did Orange Box and Halo 3.
Should be awesome stuff.
GameInformer, btw.

I think it's only down side is combat. I like how it sounds, but 'RPG' tends to scare off some people. And trying to have a mix of action and RPG stats os going to leave those that don't like the other dissapointed.. Between that and an apparently steep learning curve, it's enough not to get 10/10.
But, I'll love it. I've enjoyed combat in all their games so far.
yeah you are right. why would halo and "orange box" get such high scores? they are not nearly as good as many other games. i play shadowrun erry time over halo 3. halo 3 is really a big overhyped disappointment. im wondering if mass effect really does have an action game feel in an rpg. that kind of combo is ideal, i hope its a gears-like rpg, that would be great.guppieface
The problem with halo 3 is not that it is overhyped. What halo 3 does, it does supremely well. In reality its a great game. But the problem is that it is MORE of the same. Its starting to get a little old. People have been playing more or less the same game since 2001. Halo CE was groundbreaking....Halo 2 added to it...and now Halo 3 is like "ok this is still cool but...*yawn*"
So we have become a little jaded with the halo universe, and rightfully so. Ive been playing the single campaign since its release, and im only on level 7. Not because i am having a hard time finishing it, but because i really am not that motivated to pick up the controller to play it. When i do play it i have fun, but its just not as exciting anymore.
So in a way im a little disapointed in Halo 3....but to be honest I didnt expect anything different. I got exactly what I expected...great gameplay, great graphics, perfectly tuned multiplayer. Really there isnt much to complain about objectively. Subjectively speaking, im glad this is the last one and I cant wait for bungie to release something new and fresh.
considering game informer is gamestop...they give hyped games high scores imo just to sell the game.
im not doubting mass effects ability to get a 9.75, just gameinformer ablility to write reviews.
Scores may help uniformed consumers purchase games that they will get their monies worth out of, but for an avid gamer that keeps on gaming news and features, scores should almost be irrelevant. Hearing, or reading reviews make sense to get a feel for what the game will play like, and you can watch movies to see visuals and other game play aspects, where as a number will mean very little to you once you start playing.
I know that scores will amount to awards at the end of the year, and properly place it on gaming lists, but feeling dissapointed about how a game got 9.5 instead of a 10 seams kind of a waste of time.
Still though, congrats to Mass Effect.
i would not buy a game with bysexual and homosexual aliens in it even if someone gave me enough money to buy it.WiiNut6493
LOL there's more to it than that.
