Maybe start off with a racer, simple game like PGR3. Maybe he can try out some demos to get used to shooters (graw 2 multiplayer demo).

That's a tough one. Co-op play is probably your best bet. I doubt he would get serious about online death match. Gears co-op is great if he doesn't mind a few cuss words. Kameo has co-op. Tennis games are very fun- Virtua Tennis 3 or Top Spin are great games. Table Tennis is also very good. Does Viva Pinata have any type of online play?

I have an 11 year old and we play C.O.D 2 and 3, Burnout, and quite a few of the XBLA games that support multi-player. I suggest Marvel : Ultimate Alliance also. Awesome co-op.

pick up guitar hero 2 and 2 guitars...your dad should dig that and you could have a lot of fun playing it with him.

I can't wait until my 5 year old son can start playing games with me. His hands are still a bit small for the controllers :D

I wish my dad would get back into gaming. He was a serious gamer in the early days but it wore off. He still owns in racers though lol. I want him to play Halo with me but he cant nail down the double analog stick situation. (He last played shooters on a PC).

Bear this in mind: I know he's 44 and that must seem like it makes him some sort of alien that thinks completely differently to you. Let me tell you, he thinks exactly like you do. Men of all ages, 18, 28, 48, 68, 108 - we all pretty much think the same way. Let him play the games you play, he'll dig them. Trust me, for men of all ages blowing stuff up/driving really fast/beating people down in a virtual world equates to fun. The fact that he gets to hang out with his son is just a huge bonus.

just be sure he's not only buying the 360 just to make you happy. if he's willing to try, awesome, but my parents get frustrated really fast. congrats on a gamer dad, you lucky dog.

My dad (44) likes to play driving games like PGR3, NFS: Carbon. He sometimes comes to my apartment to play my x360 :D We are together waiting Forza Motorsport 2 :D First time when my dad sayed that he want's to try playing some games I was like wtf are you talking about?! :D Then he grapped on to the my x360 steering wheel and sayed "start that thing(x360) and let me try some good driving game" :D I did put the PGR3 and he played it about an hour. Then my mom came... you know what then happened ;D

You should get him on something he'd be interested in that's slow paced like RB6 or GRAW, i know my pops loves that ..do co-op with him on easy and once he gets the hang of the controls spread it out to Crackdown and some split screen Halo 2 ( do not get him on live until he's ready)
