Just so everyone knows exactly what the prestige edition is incase they didn't already:

http://www.gamefocus.ca/?nav=new&nid=6097

And nope, I will either be getting the ordinary version (most likely), or the steel book version (unlikely) - I don't really care about the game box.

It all comes down to the price and the quality of those NVG's.

Probably won't even get the game because I'm sick of Activisions bs rehashes. The NVG will probably be cheap and work for like a week also..

Prestige edition looks cool. I'll probably get prestige and a collector's edition and never actually open up the prestige edition.

From an acquaintance More than likely they are an infrared 'flashlight' with an infrared-sensitive camera on the end and displays on the inside. This will and truly allow you to see in complete blackness. However, this is not true Night Vision technology. This will allow you see in the dark same as if you were holding a flashlight. Good for details out to 20 feet, you may be able to see some IR-reflective out to 50 or something. REAL NVGs amplify existing light (from Infrared into the visible spectrum). With real NVGs you can see out a thousand yards, although details might get fuzzy (it's a digital device, not optical, so details are dependent on the resolution of the eyepeice displays/camera). You can see mountains, tracer rounds, muzzle flashes and the stars illuminate like Christmas lights. With Infrared "flashlight" goggles, all you can see is what the infrared light emitter puts out. Same as a flashlight, just in a part of the spectrum that you can't see. This kind of tech has been hitting toy stores everywhere for $20.

Normally I would agree with this but a Soap MacTavish replica head and NVGs? I could care less about the art book, metal tin, and even the code for the original but the special stuff sounds like fun. I'm not planning on running around with NVGs on, but I think it's cool to have. Also, I may have just talked myself out of it.

If y'all could help someone out who's in the dark here?.......

I preordered the Collectors Edition, I assume this is not the same thing as the Prestige Edition? (I know, really out on a ledge there with my assumption) And can anyone tell me what the Collectors Edition entails?

I'm sure I probably just got bilked out of an extra $20, but I heard a rumor about being able to "dual wield" guns?

Thanks!

I know the "Hardened Edition" or standard collectors edition will come in a metal case, have an art book with it and a download code for CoD the original for the PC (who knows about XBL or PSN). I hope you're wrong about the ability to dual wield guns because that's absolutely ridiculous to change the entire way the game is played just because someone gets a collectors edition. I seriously doubt they'd do more than colored clan tags or something along those lines again.

lol I agree. The Call of Duty original code will be in the Hardened and Prestige edition. I might have to go with the prestige. We can make a club of people with the goggles from MW2. One thing I was interested in is that the regular game has Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 while the collectors stuff has only Modern Warfare 2

I will just buy the normal edition because at the end of the day, it's still the same game in every edition and as for the original Call of Duty code... I might buy it later when it's actually released in the XBLA

Holy crap! That's a special edition right there! Lol. I'd get it, if it's like 100-120 maybe. That's only 2 games, so no biggie. But CoD original on Arcade?! That's awesome also!

Cool. Hardened is $80, so I'm definitely going with that (since it comes with the original CoD token).

Yeah, I know -- but I'm glad they decided to include it in Hardened as well. No point in buying the Prestige now..

seems like every good game has a speical edition. even bad games get one these days :P I'm sticking to the normal edition on all simply for not spending s .. think I managed to buy 5 games extra in the last 5 years extra simply because I did not spend 10, 20 or 30 extra on those games!

Same, I don't feel like paying for Day 1 map packs either. Only Call of Duty game I will be buying this year, is possibly Call of Duty Classic. (Which depends on the price. If it is over $10 then hell no.)
