so what causes the 360 to freeze?

just bought my third 360, this time the premium package and also bought the darkness with it. On my 4th or 5th hour of playing the game i exited a level and instead of a loading screen poping up i got a black screen and it was froze.

Ill i wanna know is, is freezing a bad sign and is there anyway to prevent it?

when i said 4th hour of 5th hour in the game i actually ment altogether since ive owned it, not in one sitting.

Sometimes it can be a game where you're hitting a glitch causing it to lock up the system. If you get freezing in multiple games fairly regularly then i'd be concerned if it's once in a blue moon then no worries. I've had other systems freeze but usually it's some glitch you happen to run into, a spec of dust on the cd where it's trying to read, etc..

Black screen after longer periods on a 360 sounds video card related to me. Keep an eye and see what happens.

More than likely it's over-heating rapidly. You say you're purchased serveral consoles? then it's not gonna be the games, it'll be the consoles... Since they're brand new, it's more than likely going to be a heat problem. Place it in an open area, no where confined. If it still over heats then just place a desktop fan next to it, and it should blow the heat away... or you can simply buy a fan for it. Search around for them, there's plenty on the market, all should cool ur unit by a couple of degree's.

Some games just cause the 360 to work harder than others... Mine used to freeze on Rainbow 6 all the time, but no other game.. put a fan up next to it, no more problems.
