Just wondering what everyone thought of the largest gaming retail chain. Please share your good and bad experiences.

I buy and reserve new games from them. Usually buy used games from them. But they will rob you blind for trade-ins. I only trade game son craigslist. Usually it's a one for one deal. I've traded 8-10 games for 1 at gamestop.

I hate them with a passion. Luckily their brother company, EB Games is accross the street from them where I live. EB Games, great. Gamestop, blows. Reason, their staff is arogant and cocky, probably all hump each other in back. Everytime I would go in there (before the EB Games opened up) they were always rude and not helpful... they would act like their doing me a favor. Their loss.

I usually buy games from them because i happen to be very cheap and i like their selection of used games. I recently got my 360 last week, and i bought GRAW for 14 bucks, which was well worth the money, absolutely love them

The staff blows. Used to like it as a kid but over the past 10 years that one has really gone down thecr*pper. Either the management or regional director should be canned. I know I'm not the stupid one since all of their 40 year old virgin employees are highschool droppouts whereas I'm a college grad. I'm sure that all are not like it but the one by me is terrible. If they replaced the staff I'd love it again. And I think they are the one's that don't understand A or B, LOL!

The Gamestop I got is the one on Broadway in Soho (not the one by Astor, the other one that no one seems to know about...on Halo 3 release there were 15 people there =D), The staff there are alright, pretty helpful and cool to talk to. I work in retail also (PUMA store FO LIFE>!>!@) so I know how it is when corporate gets on your balls to sell stuff. Also when people ask you if you need help or anyting don't say "I'm just looking" that's seriously annoying when you hear it 304958304958 times a day. Anyway I have no problem with them but there's this one guy who works there who looks like a giant monkey w/ a Jewfro thing goin' on. He's a freakin douche. He acts like he's doing people a favor by working there. His attitude just pisses me off. He's looks like he's 35 yrs. old and he works at a freakin Gamestop. Must be mad at his situation in life.

Eb/Gamestop have their ups and downs for different things.

I'm not a huge fan of buying games at EB/Gamespot. Twice I've pre ordered, and both times, they didn't have a copy to give me when I showed up a few days later. Great. What's the point of pre ordering? I also don't like paying full price for an opened game. I understand thats store policy and the game is still "new" but the last "new" game I payed for had a small scratch on it. Didn't affect the playability, but still. Games are damn near 80 bucks in Canada and I don't want a game with a scratch on it. Also, it bothers me that they'll give people 7 bucks for a used game and turn around and sell it for 2-3 times that. I know thats the business, but I still think it's shady. I never sell games. Like I'm going to take 10 bucks for a game I paid 78 dollars for a few months ago. Although I do like their disc protection fee. My first 360 chewed up some discs and EB replaced them all. But then again, I really hate getting harassed to pre order or buy the used version (usually scratched with a torn manual) for 7 bucks less than a new one. Great its like getting 11 chewed up games for the price of 10 new ones....

I do like all there hardware deals though. They're always super friendly about replacing faulty hardware no questions asked.

when I buy a game for $60...I want it to be new in the box sealed...I dont want it to be "new" with a scratch on it. Gamestop has some of the worst employes I've ever seen...They constantly act like they are doing you a huge favor by looking up a game or trying to find a box. And if they ask you to reserve a game, and you refuse!? Forget it...they get all pissy on you. Sometimes I think random hobos off the street would be a better fit then these idiots that they found. Like do people like this actually exist? I HATE GAMESTOP/EBGAMES

They deal exclusively with games, so I usually go there. I've traded in stuff, preordered games, bought new and used games, returned used games, etc. You name it, I've probably done it if they allow it...and I've been pretty happy with my experience. The employees were good, store selection was good, prices, etc...we're all top notch. I can really only see people complaining about Gamestop's trade-in prices, since those can be a downer every now and then. Then again, how much can you really expect to get back on a game/console that you've owned for awhile that no one else is really going to want?
