Chaos Theory definitely, it kind of reinvented Splinter Cell. I mean the graphics were the best I had ever seen at that time and the new sound meter and the knife and all this stuff, it was an amazing game from start to finish.Felix77

This ^^ I also thought SC: Chaos Theory was the best game on Xbox. Period.

it was and still is an amazing game. why they dumbed down the stealth meters to the green/yellow/red lights in double agent i dont know, in fact why they messed with the formula at all is beyond me. chaos theory is without a shadow ( ) of a doubt the best stealth game ive ever played. i was hoping that someone would make a "this gen" stealth espionage game like chaos theory on the 360 (other than double agent of course), but surprisingly no-one has.
I was looking through my collection and decided the answer would be one of these.Actually, I think it's the whole series.x-2tha-z

Well the topic just asks what's the best stealth game you've ever played- it doesn't specify for 360. As for me, the best is Chaos Theory, and I agree with some of the other posters that double agent deviated too much from its formula and kind of sucked. Also, MGS4 was awesome. The great thing about that game is you can play it how you want. You can be stealthy with zero alerts and unlock cool gadgets and then play through it like rambo- great versatility!
The Thief series is really good, though too old for the 360. I think maybe the last one made it to xbox, but the rest are PC only I think.
Hitman series is also a lot of fun, and I like that in the more recent ones they really encourage and reward you to do stealthy kills rather than mowing everyone down with an AK. I worked my way through Blood Money with Silent Assassin ratings, on Professional, Suit only (no disguises) - if you think you're good at stealth games I challenge you to play it that way and you will have a lot of fun when you pull it off
currently playing Assassin's Creed, which I'm loving, where you can play stealthily, though there doesn't seem to be much penalty to being discovered
