So with Crysis 2 being an EA game, will they do the access code thing?

If you're buying the game used you're not a customer anyway. I honestly don't see the problem with this, just pay the extra bit of money, get the game new, and support the company that made the game not at games shop.

I didn't see the problem with this until my GF started playing my games under her xbox live account. She always complained about how little amount of maps there were.

No, the fact is that the people at Crytek declined to require an online pass because they wanted to get as big an online community as they could.

I see it as a good thing. If used game retailers want to keep up used game sales, they're going to have to start lowering the prices even more.

I completely agree. People who buy used are now going to have to wait for the price to drop even more before they can actually get a worthwhile discount. I just do no support this whole trend anyway. This online codes crap and DLC. Games are way overpriced, take homefront for example. Does anyone know if they did the online code if you buy used...I feel like I remember reading they were. But that game is not worth 60 plus tax, at least from the reviews I have read and watched.I would be very pissed if I payed for the online code and foundout the game was garabage.

Also...what does ths mean for Netflix users? So now if I rent a game to try it's multiplayer I am screwed? I have to buy the game to play or be the first one to rent it to jack the code lol...Give me a break.

So the developer gets paid for making their games. When you buy used, the only people who are getting that money are the sellers. The used market is badly hurting profits.

I disagree with this comment.

There is NO proof that used game sales hurt publishers and many people who buy used would never have tried those games at full retail price. Keep in mind the second hand market also helps drive the costs for New games down. I don't think the fact that gaming grew rapidly right around the same time that Funco Land, Game Stop and Electronics Boutique started popping up everywhere and selling games used is a coincidence. The fact is the used game market makes gaming more accessible to people of all incomes and therefore actually grows the market.

So according to some posters here we should be supporting a developer by buying new and all...

Hmmm, i wonder when was the last time a developer thought about the finances of their clients and reduced the price of their games (not only devs, but publishers too)?

No, business is business. Money is what is at stake, so if i have an opportunity to cut costs to support myself or my hobby i would. Because nobody else would.

No it doesn't. Crytek was an independant company aquired by EA so as an independant developer they refused the online pass. I'm glad they did.

@bobbetybob Thats not correct. My friend and I share a place, and we both have our own tv/xboxs, but we usually buy one game and trade them back and forth, we are not purchasing this game or Homefront because of that. That means they lose a customer. If it was a really really great game, we might buy two copies, but not for medicore games.

This whole used game online pass thing is absurd. That's like going out and buying a used car but the radio won't work till you pay the radio activation fee.... and I'm not talking Sirius/XM Radio either :-P
