So I was watchign 3:10 to Yuma yesterday and it got me thinking why the hell hasn't anyone made an rpg from the wild west setting yet? There are so many opportunities for moral choices and playing the good and bad guy plus the setting hasn't been overdone yet like fantasy rpgs so it would be pretty unique. Bioware or Behtesda or someone needs to get to this.

omg i am so glad you said that. :D

but Red Dead Redemtion is probably the closest thing that its going to be for awhile, its open world sand box type.
but a RPG would be lovely.

Final Fantasy VIII tried to go Wild West with Irvine Kinneas, and while his limit break could be useful, his character had about as much appeal as a Uwe Boll videogame movie. I think the main barrier is that the Wild West protagonists are all major bad-asses. Clint Eastwood, Man-With-No-Name types who talk little, do little and kill lots. If they go against that the character will seem out of place and annoying; but without it, I fear most companies will not be able to write a story successfully. It's a shame really, because sometimes quiet, or even silent characters are best...Ryu in Breath of Fire 3 anyone?

Wild West RPG would be something interesting to play. This is kind of like uncharted territory for RPGs. There's a lot of Space RPG games and futuristic RPG games.

this might sound weird but i like to think as fallout 3 as a bit of a wild west game due to the wasteland and the general attitude of people espescially in towns like megaton, arefu and big town if that makes sense...

also i think red dead redemption is the closest were going to get anytime soon.

I don't think that would be a good game to tell you the truth.

I don't know if it's considered an RPG, but I think Red Dead Redemption will be pretty close to what you're looking for.

I agree. I can't wait for the next Elder Scrolls game. It will be incredible. I hope they announce it soon.

Red Dead Redemption will hopefully be close to that. If not, I think it would be a while before we see anything like that unfortunately. Most game companies seem to be pretty unoriginal.
