Then he told me to accept his friend request so he could get my IP, which I didn't. Then at the end of the game he told he friend that was on there to get tdub's IP, so I turned off my xbox. But is it possible to get my IP on Live and what could he do with it?
well, if you've got a credit card attached to the account, in theroy he could get your mailing adress, but he'd have to be 1 of a few thousand hackers world wide that are skilled enough to pull that kinda thing off... basically i wouldnt worry about it, because if he did know how to do it, he'd probably be using that threat instead of demanding your IP adress

You shouldn't mess with people on live if you're scared that they'll do something. I truly doubt he's gonna do anything to you because sadly there's tons of people "messing around" on live. Plus i mean getting scared if someone's gonna find you on live is sad because if you've played live for long how many people have said "you noob i'll hunt you down and kill you"? Just people trash talking the guy probably has anger management issues.

I'm going to be prejudicial and say that you are relatively young, or perhaps you may even sound like it. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this guy was trying to mess with you or scare you. In either case, it worked.
LOL... no. and even if he did, IP addresses are dynamic meaning that you ownt have the same IP each time you go online though your ISP. If he did an IP trace, then best he could find is your Service Provider and possibly what state it was in... that's it. Relax, he's all bark.

WOW. Just WOW. First off if someone did threaten you file a complaint on x-box live against them. Second there is no way for them to get your IP off of Live. If they did there is really nothing they can do with it. IF they did get it they would have to call your ISP and then ask them for your address, which they won't give, nor is it legal to do so. He was just messing with you. And honestly if it freaked you out that much you really shouldn't be on live. The other question is exactly what did you do to get him that angry? You said you were messing around. Sounds like you may have been the cause of his anger. Thus another reason children and younger teens should not game with adults. No, IP address are only dynamic if that is the way the host setting is set up. Many ISP use static IPs that is how they are able to trace people. This is often used for catching people who illegaly download music and send e-mail treats to government officals or even schools.

In my country national Internet support is totally dynamic and many service providers do give dynamic IP service but they check you through Username and Password so each of the site you browse the download you do is recorded in their database.
