split screen is old, I always hated it, I can't stand just having a portion of the screen.

So if two to four people are in the same room they should need 1 to 3 more systems, 1 to 3 more copies of the same game, 1 to 3 more TV's and a crossover cable or router to play something that could have been easily enjoyed with just 1 to 3 more controllers?

As shocking as it sounds, I'm the only one of my friends to own a 360.  So, yes, I enjoy slipscreen quite a lot.

I think splitscreen is starting to become a thing of the past.  Since Live is out, everyone pretty much uses that now for multiplayer.

I actually do not like splitscreen.  I loved it back in the N64 days since it was new and refreshing but to me, it doesn't fit well into todays games because graphics and gameplay are always sacrificed alittle when they add splitscreen multiplayer in a game.  Also, I have zero friends here in Arizona, so it's not like I can have people over. :( :(

Your ignorant. My frined as a 360 but can't afford online right now(and yes he has a job) just b/c all your money goes straight to your games doesn't mean everyone else is that in to gaming. When Ever I go to his house we can only play 1 vs. 1 Geow so we end up playing halo 2. So why do you thing before posting such a stupid topic. durh

So I'll have to pay £280 for another console when GeoW2 comes out, just because I want to play with my brother? you think thats fair? Not everyone can afford 2 consoles.

Yup, same thing here. I think it sucks that Crackdown doesn't have offline co-op.

split screen co-op is great fun, completed both halos with my mate that way. I can't get my 360 online at the moment as I'm at uni and the internet here sucks, there should be more offline co-op!

I really like splint screen. 2-players locally should be a must, unless it make the game run like crap.

They should do away with split screen but then give us the option to output to another monitor/TV without the need for a second console and game. That way both worlds will be satisfied. Plus then all of us with nice big plasmas can even have the option of doing the plasmas PIP/PBP and have split screen but not loose half the image in the normal split screen.

How exactly would one get the multiplayer screens to other TV's with only a single connection?

Well best thing would be like PS3 claim they can with the dual HDMI ports. Since we dont have those then either a cable with dual VGA/compnent/etc connections or allow this when they do come out with the HDMI port.

Local multiplayer games are a must....not a hinderence to gaming.....not everyone in the gameing community has the ability to go online to play multiplayer games. Co-op games (Halo's, Graw, Gears, Rainbow 6) are the best multiplayer games around I love to play games with real people (friends and family) not just people over the net...and the reason these games are so popular is partially due to the ability to have split screen multiplayer.

you clearly don't know what socialising is its nice to have friends round and play some slit screen, the only reason you don't like split screen is cause you have no use for it

Some people have REAL FRIENDS. I know, it's a foreign concept, isn't it? You need to step outside and talk to someone who isn't on AIM...It's always more fun to have your friends with ya, that's what makes party games great.

I enjoy playing split-screen with my friends.  Maybe your problem is you just don't have friends.

I can't stand spilt screen as well (and I have a 55" screen). So when my friends are over we just pass the controller after every match.

Wired LAN parties are where the real fun is.  There's nothing more satisify that connecting three 360's to three seperate televisions and playing 3 on 3 matches of Gears of War with your best friends after work.  Personally, I dig split screen games (Goldeneye for the 64 with 3 others freinds was amazing) but the trend seems to be moving towards the online platform with online co-op.  This is an option that works for me also because all of my friends (including my girlfriend) have a 360 and Live so the absence of local split-screen play doesn't bother me that much.

you would feel differently about this is you had any friends. Its totaly different than playing online when you can reach across the couch and smack your friend for headshotting you lol. It makes it so much better to have ur friends in the room playing against you. and plus, not everyone is in to gaming enough to buy xbl.. ignorant..

But what are you going to play with when your friends are over? I know that I play mostly shooters with my friends, so I like the split-screen and I want it to stay. I know Im not going to get Live for quite a while, since I need to buy my wireless networking device and then buy Xbox 360 Live Gold. If Split-Screen would be dead then theres no point to have friends over for shooting games or driving games (or anything else with split-screen) Im one of the only ones in my classes with a 360, so split-screen should stay and stay forever.
