Okay, so I've just finished the Campaign of Modern Warfare 2 last night. And may I just say, wow. I never expected Gen. Shepard to all of a sudden turn on Roach, Ghost, Price, Soap, etc. After yet another epic (but kinda unfinished) ending of throwing a knife at him in the face with Soap just about dead, it left a few questions open that I'm wondering.
1. I thought the villian of the game was Makarov. Since I ended up killing Shepard instead, what happened to going after Makarov? (And I couldn't kill him in the terrorist mission...)
2. Whatever became of Foley, Dunn, Ramierez, and all those other guys in the States?
3. Ghost: ...I repeat, the silo doors are open! Captain Price: ...Good. (?) Ghost: Huh? Wait, no! Price!!!
Other than practically nuking the US (Rangers), what was that all about, and why was Price happy about the silo doors being open?
I wish the Campaign could've gone on a little longer...
1. he was, but they left going after Makarov open for MW3. as Shepard had become the immediate threat to the main characters.
2. Sounds like they're going to Russia . . . again left open for MW3
3. My Interpretation of those events (keyword is interpretation. could be totally wrong) is that Price launched the nuke himself. since the Nuke was launched from a Russian sub, it would look like the Russians were going all out with their attack. Enabling all US and allied forces a reason to move with all forces against Russia. (Despite the apparent US involvement with the Russian massacre, Nuclear War is the worlds #1 fear. and a nuclear strike would rally everyone to the US's side).
Your #3 is my exact understanding. He launched the missile so that AMericans wouldn't be seen as the 'bad guy' in international eyes and the Russians would be hurt on the international stage. The EMP knocking out Russian equipment to level the fighting field was a bonus. He detonated it in the sky to limit its truly destructive nature.
