Okay, so I've just finished the Campaign of Modern Warfare 2 last night. And may I just say, wow. I never expected Gen. Shepard to all of a sudden turn on Roach, Ghost, Price, Soap, etc. After yet another epic (but kinda unfinished) ending of throwing a knife at him in the face with Soap just about dead, it left a few questions open that I'm wondering.

1. I thought the villian of the game was Makarov. Since I ended up killing Shepard instead, what happened to going after Makarov? (And I couldn't kill him in the terrorist mission...)

2. Whatever became of Foley, Dunn, Ramierez, and all those other guys in the States?

3. Ghost: ...I repeat, the silo doors are open! Captain Price: ...Good. (?) Ghost: Huh? Wait, no! Price!!!

Other than practically nuking the US (Rangers), what was that all about, and why was Price happy about the silo doors being open?

I wish the Campaign could've gone on a little longer...

It was a good story though :)

i think price fired the nuke himself, he was talking about a bigger bang, quite literally in this case, i dont understand his intentions, parhaps he knew that it would emit an emp which would bring down all technology and put the russians on the same level as th US, but, i still dont really undertand since this would also knock out any remaining US armour and support...so....meh.

as for the makerov shepard thing, i reckon that is cus IW are getting into the whole sequal thing, so dince they didnt directly plan for a sequal in MW1, in MW2 they have only gone halfway through the story, leaving a massive gap to continue, which is a mick take, since the campaign is so short they could put together both and it would still be shorter than most other games...I think im as confused as you though :?

Not sure about the first two, but remember in the cutscene where Price argues with shepard but putting out a fire by creating a bigger bang. He wanted to fire the missle from the sub, against shepard's orders to create that "bigger bang".

Price fired the missile because he knew that it would cause an emp which would in turn help out the us forces. Im mad they killed ghost though that mask is just to bad ass. Oh and Markov is still a bad guy but sheperd had to be dealt with first im sure in the next one they will be hunting for him again.

I had to turn on the subtitles just to follow along with what was going on, and I still didn't completely understand the whole story. But that was one of the big criticisms of the campaign. Other than it's short length, it kind of glazed over the story expecting you to also remember the bits of story from the first Modern Warfare. But big shock. The campaign leaves the story open for MW3.

1. he was, but they left going after Makarov open for MW3. as Shepard had become the immediate threat to the main characters.

2. Sounds like they're going to Russia . . . again left open for MW3

3. My Interpretation of those events (keyword is interpretation. could be totally wrong) is that Price launched the nuke himself. since the Nuke was launched from a Russian sub, it would look like the Russians were going all out with their attack. Enabling all US and allied forces a reason to move with all forces against Russia. (Despite the apparent US involvement with the Russian massacre, Nuclear War is the worlds #1 fear. and a nuclear strike would rally everyone to the US's side).

1. Simple answer to this.. it's what they do when they want to capitalize on the success of a game. They wanted to leave you with a cliffhanger there so you can dish out more money to IW for the next game.

2. No idea.. most likely we'll see them again in the next game. The ending kind of focused on Soap and Price.. so we don't really know what the others were doing.

3. I have no idea.. a lot of people think Price launched that nuke. Maybe? Who knows..

Edit: It's also likely that Ghost being surprised it was Price was due to the fact that Price was considered dead. No one knew he was locked away in that prison and still alive.

Your #3 is my exact understanding. He launched the missile so that AMericans wouldn't be seen as the 'bad guy' in international eyes and the Russians would be hurt on the international stage. The EMP knocking out Russian equipment to level the fighting field was a bonus. He detonated it in the sky to limit its truly destructive nature.

1. Guess we're suppose to get him in Modern Warfare 3

2. I think they took back Washington.... I think

3. I honestly do not understand the point of that. Him shooting that ICBM or what ever did absolutely nothing to help anyone on either side

Looks like it's waiting another 3 years, then... OR...I know they said they probably wouldn't do it, but they COULD release additional campaign as DLC...? I hope Price didn't turn the US into Fallout 3... Dunn: I don't know what's worse...**** falling from the sky or freezing my ass in this dump heap... According to what the Rangers went through, that's what it sounds like....Just my personal thought.

It would have made the story a lot better and a lot easier to understand if they just made Shepard a traitor working with Makarov.

What I'm thinking with Makarov being left out in the end, Price/Soap being wanted for their actions, and Nikolai picking them up, maybe the Makarov part of the story will be pushed aside? Price and Soap need to escape and such. Maybe Makarov and the three guys join together? I dont know :P Just throwing out my thoughts haha

That didn't happen at all, MW2 was extremely short, had no story at all, I didn't understand why it had such an abrupt ending. I don't see what everyone is talking about, this is how I played it:

I think they went overboard with the story. The first game was action packed but still plausible. MW2 started out fine but quickly turned into a cross between Tom Clancey and Michael bay. Not to mention they killed your character three times, and yes I'm counting the astronaut. It's still a good game but just felt like they were trying too hard.

Eh, MW2 did a lot of things right. Story was not one of those things. Every level, you did something crazy and epic, but when you really stop to think about it, most of the game you have almost no clue what is actually going on. It took me days after I beat the campaign before I remembered that Makarov was supposed to be the villain, that you don't even confront him, let alone kill him, and therefore the supposed point of the game remains unsolved. It was an exciting campaign, no doubt, but it made no sense. Then again, few Western games in general have great stories. Mass Effect, Bioshock and God of War spring to mind, but beyond that not much else I can think of. I'll stick to Japanese games for my story based game fix.

Pretty much why I like JRPGs...but I'm getting Dragon Age after Christmas. Anyway, if you wanted to, you COULD go back to that terrorist mission and try firing at him...lol

You know what's funny? I just went through the terrorist mission, just to kill Makarov. It seems that I'm dead with the first bullet he fires at me. And I was able to kill like 2 of his guys, too.

1. Makarov will most likely be used in the 3rd Modern Warfare. Whether or not that will be the last Modern Warfare is unknown. 2. Dunno, I forget the last time they were seen. If it was in that downed helicopter then they were probably all killed. If the campaign for them carried on past that, they probably will be seen in the next MW as well. 3. Price used the nuke as an EMP to try and even out the battle in the US. Had the EMP not gone off, the americans would have been at a severe disadvantage. However, it was extremely risky which is why there was so much disagreement over it, and which is why Price had to do it without anyone knowing.
