I was playing the first one about 15 minutes ago.:P
I played the second one on PSP for like 2 minutes and it was awesome i can't get into handhelds though so i didn't want to spend long on it.I'd say buy it man its cheap and entertaining if i could find it on xbox i'd certainly pick it up.
I have it, and I don't know what to think of the game. The space battles aren't what I thought they'd be, and there are huge mistakes in the design of capital ships. For one, we all know that the Star Destroyers have their hangar bay on the bottom. But when I get in a TIE Interceptor and vaporize those stupid X-Wings, it's just awsome. The game has really cool explosion graphics. But for some stupid reason, they did away with the first-pirson view of vehicles and the ability to lay flat on the ground. The heavy troopers rocket launcher is now actually very useful and deadly, and playing as Darth Maul and slaughtering hundreds of clones is a rewarding experience.
There are many innaccuracies and anachronisms in the game. Super Battle droids are way to small, and laser colors on many vehicles are incorrect. All the units of the Republic, except the regular trooper. are of different divisions than of the 501st. Tumera Morrison, they guy who did the voices of the clones in the movies, and the first game, is no longer used except for death screams and space battles. Now it's some corny american rambo guy. Playing as certain teams on certain maps means almost certain defeat. An example is on Endor. You have a hard time seeing the Rebels as the blend in, not to mention the tiny ewoks. And your AT-ST's always follow the same path- walking into the swinging logs of doom. The new battle of Geonosis map SUCKS. No more Gunships, and only 1 AT-TE, and the hailfire droids cant lock on to stuff anymore. And I'm not sure if it's just my machine, a 360 using original Xbox emulating software, but on Naboo, the AI who control and spawn from the post to the right of the palace, always congregate up against the wall by the palace and try to run through it. Unless killed or ordered to follow you, they stay their the whole game and miss out on the action, which can be detrimental to their team.
Aside from all this, it's good parts outnumber the bad parts. So many improvements have been made to weaopons and vehicles, the ability to sprint, deployable turrets, heros playable, improved graphics and overall AI skills (they take cover more often and talk smack to the enemies, rebels even shoot the Imps after they die with their pistols). And again, it might be my 360 doing this, but the graphics on the Xbox version seem much, much better than the PS2 version, which I also played.
I highly recomend this game. Being an old veteran of SWBF 1 on Xbox LIVE when it first came out, I'm sure the online play must be absolutely awsome.
