Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars games, but I try not to get too hyped for them because they tend to consistently under deliver only decent games that rely heavily on the license to get most of their attention, notable recent exceptions being KOTOR and maybe that new RTS, and Lego Star Wars. What does give me some hope is that this game won't try to follow a movie, it seems that original storyline Star Wars games do better overall. I really hope this game turns out well, I want to get the same feeling in this game as I got when I flew for the Empire in Tie Fighter (best SW game, bar none, ever IMO). Working for the Dark Side is fun, no doubt.

The whole Dark Forces series, Republic Commando, and all the Tie Fighter/X-Wing games were great as well.
btw, did anyone ever get to see the leaked footage on youtube, cause wen i went to look at it, it sayus lucas arts took it off....if anyone saw it culd you tell me wat happened

and the Battlefronts had great multi.. I agree with you guys, I just don't believe games like Republic Commando and the Battlefront series could really stand up on their own without the SW license. Battlefront is OK, but seriously there are dozens of other FPS games out there that do everything it does, but better. Many times the license is really just used as a crutch. I'd like to see these games be able to stand on their own right. And like I said in my post, Tie Fighter, imo, is the best Star Wars game out there, even now with the horribly dated graphics.

yeah, XvT was just a flight school thing. It was great because you could set up your own epic battles, but there was no story (right?). I think it also had online play, and that would be SWEET now. Like this: Form your squadron (clan) and basically compete head to head with other squadrons in dog fights or objective based games, like destroying a frigate while protecting your own. That would be amazing.

I've never even heard of the game until I saw the topic in the topic list and yeah I'm exited about the game and I hope the game is like this, they have light sabers and the game feels like return of the jedi and they have a lot of stuff to do in the game and i wish for them to put ewolks in the game and they put some combos and great cinemas in the game and have the scene in were you are on those bikes in the woods and you actually get to play that scene... that would be the best, lol :).

More than just wanting KOTOR3, I think we all want Bioware to make it. But with Mass Effect and the fact that Lucasarts(films) has the KOTOR IP, it might be someone else..
The main attraction for all of the SW games is that you get to play the movie, but they've only delivered on a couple of good games. But hopefully (since they're using the same technology and things of that nature as the Indiana Jones game, which is supposed to be a huge leap into the future of gaming) they produce a good game.

I played Jedi Knight II but not Academy. I hear Academy is a bit better because you have Force powers for pretty much the whole game. Jedi Knight II makes you work hard for em.
I agree that it seems that most of the games that follow an original storyline are much better than ones that follow the movies, with Lego Star Wars 2 being an exception I suppose. I really enjoyed all of the Jedi Knight games, so hopefully this one kinda has shades of them in it.
The story is going to be awesome, and I'm really excited about what some of their tech (the digital molecular matter) and what it means for the industry. We're moving towards more and more realism in game environments and I think that's great. Also, I'm interested to see what the multiplayer aspect will be like. I know they didn't mention it much in the article (other than to say it exists).
