Anyone think they'll bring it to consoles? I really hope so.
And does anyone know when they release champions online? ... if they still are?

Personally they shouldn't have brought it at all... KOTOR 3 instead. Leave MMO's to the WoW addicts.raahsnavji agree 100%.
i agree 100%. Although I'm a big fan of the first two console KOTORs and I don't have a gaming PC currently, I still understand this move towards an MMO for the Old Republic series. It just made logical sense to move in that direction. It's the perfect expansive universe, the types of characters easily fit into an MMO and it's Bioware. They want a piece of that WoW market. And Bioware is already giving us IMO, the spiritual successor to the KOTOR series in Mass Effect. TOR is probably going to get me back into PC gaming. I'm looking forward to it.[QUOTE="raahsnavj"]Personally they shouldn't have brought it at all... KOTOR 3 instead. Leave MMO's to the WoW addicts.atc-fanatic
[QUOTE="atc-fanatic"]i agree 100%. It's the perfect expansive universe, the types of characters easily fit into an MMO and it's Bioware. I disagree. It is a big universe with a lot of characters and such that seem intriguing... then you realize there are Jedi running around. Near Gods. Yeah, sure I want to be a smuggler that shoots lasers when the other guy 'should' be able to deflect everything I shoot and could chop off my head with one swing. Star Wars = Jedi or Sith... make as many classes of those you want but that's all they have going for them with the Star Wars universe when it comes to multiplayer balancing. With an MMO skin on it now you are left with - Jedi Tank, Jedi Healer, Jedi Paladin... and for the opposite team replace Jedi with Sith. Add in grinding (MMO's best trait) or a level cap where 'the real game finally starts'... yeah. This has huge 1 two week sales numbers written all over it, then a slow death. They should have just stuck to KOTOR.[QUOTE="raahsnavj"]Personally they shouldn't have brought it at all... KOTOR 3 instead. Leave MMO's to the WoW addicts.DJ_Magneto

Making it into an MMO is going to ruin everything that was good about the two KotOR games.[QUOTE="DJ_Magneto"][QUOTE="atc-fanatic"] i agree 100%.Although I'm a big fan of the first two console KOTORs and I don't have a gaming PC currently, I still understand this move towards an MMO for the Old Republic series. Thats not true, in an interview, Bioware said they had been lookign to make a MMO for years now.
Its a great idea imo.... they said that it will have enough story and missions fro 8 or 9 KOTOR singleplayer games, thats awesome.
Im not a huge fan of MMO's, but I have faith in Bioware, they have never made a bad game imo. If anyone can reinvent MMO's its Bioware with a KOTOR mmo.
Bioware has been working on this before EA was in the picture, saying that they got FORCED to make an MMO is silly and not true.

That is the ONLY reason that Bioware was forced to make it an MMO. And you are correct. The previous poster that you quoted I disagree with. WoW had terrible characterisation whereas KOTOR had fantastic characterisation. So I do not see how that would work at all frankly, gameplay would benefit though. But KOTOR was great because of its story in my opinion. Obviously EA wants a share of that cash, which is all developers care for these days.codezer0
Speaking of WoW Blizzard has been approached many times about whether it would find its way to consoles. The usual response was xbox live being a middle man made updates awkward.
Oh right KoTOR 3 do want! (Though it really should be by Obsidian as a penance for Kotor 2s bugginess)
I see alot of they should do KOTOR 3. KOTOR is basically plays like an MMO without the online part, i know ive played many MMO in my time. Like the other guy said they wanted to do an MMO for years and now they are.
MMO's suck on consoles
RPG has always been alot better on PC's
Spec wise the 360 only has 256mb ram. World of warcraft minimum specs needs 256mb ram and that looks like crap! I bet the old republic will need 1gb at least.
The old republic universe is huge! I read that game will be around 20gb try fitting that on a dvd disk. Not to mention the patches and constant updates.
And the most important part is you need a keyboard and mouse! Playing a real MMO with a gamepad will be like playing lemmings on the NES.
Bottom line is you want The old Republic you will need a PC.
no.
BioWare haven't said they'll even try. which is good, the last MMO that was said to come out on the 360 . . . well it never came out for it. (Age of Conan for anyone wondering. yes I know the dev has said they're still working on a 360 port. but I call BS).
I love people blaming TOR being an MMO on EA. The Bioware & Lucasarts project was annouced way before EA bought them. Everyone was then like "Yay, KoTOR III." Then Bioware annouced they were currently making a MMO. Then this started "Yay MMO, maybe it'll be a Star Wars one." Then EA bought them and now everyone is like "pefft EA forced Bioware into making TOR instead of KoTOR III, EA is so money grubbing."
little FYI the Lucas/Bioware project was never KoTOR III it was always TOR so therefore Lucas + Bioware = TOR and EA + Bioware =/= TOR
But do recall seeing something about EA buying Bioware, because they believed the MMO they were making was a Star Wars one and they wanted a piece of the pie.

Geez, I think the thread was strated with the poster asking if TOR was being released to XBOX360, why is everyone all over them not making KOTOR3 yet. I mean I have never seen any information saying it's not going to be made. TOR is NOT KOTOR3 nor is it trying to be. Let it go already.
As far as the complaints that TOR is just a way to make money... wow!! I guess video game compaines are different from other companies that stuff like profit and sales don't matter

Hey, when you become one of the loved and cherished companies, such as Bioware, is it normal to group them into the Activision crowd? That is to say, they will try to cash in on everything they possibly can? No, to me Bioware is one of those companies that sure, they want to make money, but they at least have some gaming morals when it comes to what projects they choose. This event proves otherwise. Please Log In to post.
