Am i the only one still upset that; we the xbox fans are the ones who made this series such a success and it seems our reward is to watch our long awaited sequel go down the drain as it has been turned into a MMO rpg? What makes it even worse is there is no sign of us getting anything....i mean anything at all! No hit of a console game not even a chance to get this MMO on our system.

Geez, it's time for people to get over this. There's no point in dwelling on this since we've known about TOR for a couple of years already. Sure you can be disappointed, but I think Bioware has more than made up for it with the Mass Effect series. But that said, don't belittle this game just because you're upset that it's not a console title. The Old Republic looks epic.

I agreed The Old Republic looks epic. I might try it or possibly pre order it if I'm really for sure on getting it. But to the OP, If you are so mad about it not coming out on 360, just buy/upgrade/build a pc so you can play it. MMO's do not deserve to be put on consoles. So many limitations that would possibly make it a terrible port.

Not to be a turd, but it was on pc as well, and had a pretty large fanbase there as well. Secondly I'm happier it is an mmo, although I did really enjoy kotor 1 and 2. Its just time we have another great/decent mmo, and star wars provides an excellent theme and setting for one.

Trust me if i could i would but thats not always an options which is why consoles are a lil more accesible cause not everyone can just upgrade their pc in oreder to play the next big game. As far as MMO's being terrible on consoles you may be right but we will see how things go with the upcoming FF14 on both pc and ps3 maybe they do something right with it maybe they don't but if they do then maybe it can be a turning point in that statment of yours.

I agree with the TC. I'm angry as well. Sure, we have Mass Effect, but it's not the same. I've been dying for a KOTOR 3 to come to the 360. I did download the first one to my PC, but that's only because the system requirements are not expensive. Why should I have to pay almost $500 to enjoy one of my favorite franchises?

Dude get over it its an MMO something that consoles can't do because of lack of keyboard support which is sad on microsoft's part. Also KOTOR came out for the PC and the xbox, it wasn't some exclusive, KOTOR sold better and had better support from the PC community than the console one did. Its their game they ahve a choice of what to do with it, its not their fault for the consoles limitations in terms of gameplay interface. If all the consoles had keyboard support something so small as that, im sure TOR would have been considered for at least the 360.

And guess what....did it come out for tthe xbox 360????..ummmm NOPE it did not, which sucks becasue microsoft could have avoided this by simply adding keyboard and mouse support, but they didn't. MMO is still a PC cash crop if you will, so putting an MMO on a console without severely hurting the gameplay would not be possible. Sometimes depending on what level of player you are you nee at least a quarter of the keyboard, i use 12346 buttons along with wasd, qertfgzxcv, pace bar, mouse with 2 more buttons on it. MMO's like TOR would be impossible on a console without a keyboard and mouse, unless youget rid of half of the abilites. If you really wan't to play it that bad you jsut have to play it on PC, until microsft gives keyboard and mouse support like playstation did for a few games i wouoldn't count on it coming to 360.

Xbox 360 gamers have been using keyboards and a mouse to play since 2006.

I can understand the frustration as KotoR was on the xbox 6 months before the PC, who knows if it had sold terrible on the xbox there may have never of been a p.c version.

Anyway MMO's do have not the best history on consoles, im just gutted there is no next gen sequel to one of the best RPG's ever made PC and MMO fans get a spiritual successor and every other fan is left desperately wanting KotoR 3, like they have been wanting for years and years

And that leads to the point that just because it hasn't happend doesn't mean it cant cause it can no matter what measures need to be taken. Now to the Original point Im not telling them what to do with there game. hell if EA wants to replace every running back in madden with monkeys they can do that its their game, im simple a fan who feels like the success of a certain game whoes fan base was composed of "both" pc and xbox is now an exclusive to the pc and has alienated those of us who cant play it on the pc. Now those of you who can play or don't care about the game im sure don't care about us who want to play but can't but thats normal. Im simply pointing out that its sad in the same since if Microsoft announced gears of war 3 only for pc next year or if the next final fantasy game was announced as an xbox exclusive. Its going to put a lot of its fans on the back burning.

We''ll get another Kotor, I want TOR to be good, but when a new MMO comes out WoW always stomps it shead in the ground sinc its such a huge and established MMO already. Besides Bioware has enoughe on their plate with Mass effect 3, Dragon Age 2 recently revealed, and TOR. I am honestly Hoping to see a Jade Empire 2, now that would be amazing.

I think the fact that we aren't getting a new KOTOR is really, really ******, but it's been two years. Plenty of fantastic games have come out since KOTOR was released to keep me more than occupied.

Yeah Bioware is the best at storys and over great games im in love with mass effect and dragon age. I think those are just some of the reason its hard to swallow that some of us wont see a KOTOR. Just imagining the possiblities of KOTOR on this current gen.......wow lol

I can see why you would be upset but the KOTOR series is such a huge success on the PC and it is much easier to create an MMO on a PC than the 360 (although possible)

You said "consoles" which means more than one (not JUST 360), so my statement was just.

I like having a game that prevents certain types of players from getting onto it because it's hard to maintain a PC that would be able to run it. Especially the players from the XBL crowd.

Geez, look the game up. It is still a story driven Bioware game. There are just a lot of people that happen to be playing at the same time. I am also pretty sure the only reason it is only for PC because any decent mmo player would tell that keyboard mapping is eccesntial. Also, judging from the screen shots the game doesn't look to be too taxing on hardware, so it being Pc exclusive shouldn't be a huge deal.

Didn't realize folks were so upset over this issue. I am sad that there isn't a 360 Knights of the Old Republic being worked on but it's understandable that a veteran developer like BioWare would take their Star Wars license and shoot for something that can potentially make way more money. Even if the game is half as popular as WoW it will make far more money than a standard console game ever would - maybe it's partially EA's influence.

The Old Republic is actually the most expensive game ever. It will take a long time and many subscriptions for it to be more profitable than Knights of the Old Republic 3 would have been even if it turns out to be fantastic.

Yep I did read they estimated a $100 million development cost but let's think, WoW conservatively has 10 million people x $15 bucks a month = you just paid for the whole development of The Old Republic in one month. Sure you have to consider it cost money to run the servers and pay the support staff but after a couple months you are golden.

The cost is well over $100 million. You then have to divide those profits between EA/Bioware and Lucasarts. You also have costs like advertising. They are taking a huge risk even if this game turns out to be good but not great. This game has to be great to make any sort of substantial profit.

I agree with your point, it will have to have a ton of subscribers to be great. Your point is also true for any other non-MMO, there are still publisher / advertising / etc. other costs that eat up the profit margin. I just assume that BioWare + the Star Wars license will generate a lot of early sales for $50 or $60 each along with at least a few months of subscription for all of those folks - I'm anticipating a hit is all I'm saying.

I'am upset with TOR, not because it won' t be coming to Xbox but, because it' s an MMO instead of a full fledged SP game. Although I must admit that it looks pretty cool and might be the first good Star Wars MMO unlike Galaxies.

I just hope my pc can run it but that might be a stretch. Although, it doesn't look like it has the most demanding graphics ever (I think Bioware designed it that way) so maybe I have a chance. I would have preferred it if they had made KOTOR 3 for consoles.

You can play The Old Republic single player if you would like, since it is all story driven, with complete voice overs for every single NPC and dialogue trees just like Mass Effect 1 and 2. It's just that there will be many missions that you will come across that you will not be able to accomplish on your own. You will need a whole party of people of different classes, thus the MMO. This is like Mass Effect times 20...And it's Star Wars. So understand why people are truly excited about this and why people think it can be a competitor with WOW. I know this...I've never been interested in MMO's and I currently don't even have a powerful enough machine to comfortably run one, but I'm in the process of building a new PC, in anticipation for The Old Republic.

I think its sad that the new Starwars game isn't going to be on the 360 but I also understand why, It is going to be an MMO which say what you will about it if done well then its a real money spinner. Look at world of warcraft that makes Blizzard billions of dollars a month just from the subscriptions alone never-mind having to buy the game itself. The problem I see with this is the same as Galaxies, everyone will want to be a Jedi. Its one thing being a Jedi on a single player game because lets face it. You're the main character but when its an MMO thats slightly different. I can easily see the force using classes in this becoming too overpowered very quickly which may ruin the game for everyone. For those that remember Galaxies it was actually a pretty good MMO but when they released the patch that allowed you to get the Jedi class without working hard the game got ruined because there where too many jedi and then they where a broken class, something admitted by the developers. To be honest I think this is a logical step for the KOTOR franchise so to speak. A third game I feel would only serve to make the story side of it poorer. I feel that making an MMO which has a loose story but for the most part they're free roam is a wise decision. Not putting it on 360 again I feel is wise because they would have to still charge the subscription to the game. So instead of it being say 8.99 a month, it will be for those that wish to play it on XBL around 12.99 or so. Many people dislike the MMO because of the subscription itself but those that do get them usually think along the lines of "Well its not THAT much" so it being over ten pounds a month is pretty much tipping it over the edge. Placing it on PC is a waste of time. What I would like to see out of a Starwars game franchise now more than anything else is either a SP game that focuses on Luke Skywalker after the events of the films or perhaps one that is based around bounty hunters, something fun but not focused on jedi and light sabers.

@Mr-S-Taterbear - There was some thought about everyone wanting to be Jedi or Sith, but I think that the Bioware has shown in their demos, and they've even talked about this, that the other classes are unique and powerful enough that people will want to play as troopers or bounty hunters or smugglers, etc. I know from talking to people I know who are big into MMO's that many aren't even planning on being any kind of Force wielding class. And with any RPG, there is a huge benefit for balancing your party with multiple classes.

You have no idea what the stories will be like or the characters you can have in your party and on your ship, it could be better than the last games. They have been doing very well with the timeline they have on their site. Both KOTOR games were on the PC and even if it wasn't I want Bioware to make the game for the system they want in the way they want, if players don't own the system too bad for them.

Yeah your right what was i thinking as long as they do what they want who cares what the fans what right....lol you really need to read all of the post on this one cause its been clear that the games were on both pc and xbox and its also clear that the game wasn't a success by the pc alone if you do the numbers its a joint effort. Also like it was said earlier those of you who can play the MMO arn't going to care about those who can't so with that said there isn't much you can add this this convo aside for " if players don't own the system too bad for them" Let me make this clear for future ppl who have nothing to add to the convo..... Its the right of the developer to take any game /frachise to what ever systems or direction they see fit i would never despute that. but as a huge fan like so many others it just sux not being able to play the upcomeing game. Not everyone can play pc games, for those of you who can im happy for you! me myself i cant upgrade my pc everytime a new game comes out that requires more power. This post wasn't ment to be a war on pc vs. consoles but with comments like this its hard not to go there.

If all the consoles had keyboard support something so small as that, im sure TOR would have been considered for at least the 360.Shuraijuro

I have a keyboard hooked up to my xbox right now, so I'm sure they could find a way to make it work.

Yeah, it'd definitely be nice to have it on 360, but MMO's don't seem to be too successful on consoles, though I'd say The Old Republic would be a huge success. I was even surprised they didn't even put it on Mac, because WoW is PC/Mac.

I'am upset with TOR, not because it won' t be coming to Xbox but, because it' s an MMO instead of a full fledged SP game. Although I must admit that it looks pretty cool and might be the first good Star Wars MMO unlike Galaxies.

Thanks for the info I feel a little more comfortable knowing this now but, I can' t knock off the feeling that the story and the missions will be hindered by the MMO structure even if it is story driven and I don' t have enough money to pay subscription fees unless there' s no subsciption fees I won' t be able to buy it.
