steam box available through your own next gen xbox?

question. if the steambox will run on windows 8, and if the xbox 720 supposedly runs windows 8 pro, would you not be able to down load steam right to your console and play your games?

That would be cool, but I'm not sure that would be allowed.

if it was going to be on windows 8, the XBOX feasibly would have to run windows 8 RT, NOT pro. that way u COULDN'T install 3rd party apps that arent approved through the store, but mainly because windows 8 PROPER is only compatible with intel and AMD chips. Tradiontally, consoles have been running on IBM chips for power effeciency, and some strong rumours suggest the NExtbox will be ARM based (but no one truely knows until E3)

Actually the opposite might happen.

It looks like Microsoft is looking into cloud based solutions in oprder to abstract the gaming ahrdware away. That means you might be able to purchase and play Xbox games on your windows 8 PC/laptop/tablet.
