Well, I got the idea that Microsoft was giving people a hard time because around launch everyone was complaining about it. so yeah, Is it worth it to pay the extra money for a the 120G hard drive over the 20G one? I will probably download a demo every now and then, but I would delete it after I tried it anyway. I wouldn't put music directly on it, so what is the incentive to buy the higer priced one, with the only benifit for me being the bigger Hard drive?Sebastian2022
Go with the 350$ one. Unless you are a heavy downloader, 120gb is overkill. Also get the 2 year Best Buy warranty for 30-40$. IF you have a Best Buy around they are awesome! If ANYTHING goes wrong with your Xbox you just bring it back to them and they replace it with a brand new one for you. Saves you the trouble of boxing it up and shipping it back to MS then waiting 2 weeks for them to get it back to you.
I've heard that this summer's new shipment in august is 0% likely to not get rrod.
If you can't wait that long, here are some tips.
Never put it on carpet.
if its lying down prop it up so the base isnt on the ground.
IF you live in a constant hotplace like southern texas, a laptop fan under it will help a lot. reduces the chances 20 fold.
Standing it upright is the worst way to get RROD, standing it up blocks the biggest vent in the entire console which is on the bottom.
I also heard that any kind of external fan can almost do more harm than good. The only kind of fan to help would be an internal install, which you don't want to do anyway as that voids your warranty.
I got mine back today. and the RROD is fixed but now the DVD tray wont open. I called and they told me to ship it back again. YES the XBOX has good games BUT the hardware SUCKS.batsugun
Same thing happened to me dude. I waited a bit....hit it and then it worked.
Microsoft's exclusives are for the most part far better than Sony's and Nintendo's imo (with the exception of Brawl.) i'm currently on my 3rd Xbox 360. i've had this one for about 5 months, and it has frozen up twice in the last month or so but it seems to be performing well, so hopefully it won't lead to a RROD. my first 360 was one of the last of the initial batch produced, so naturally it was a piece of junk and stopped working after 30 minutes. i took it up to the store and exchanged it for a new one, no big deal, no hassle. the second 360 performed admirably until last Thanksgiving, when it got the RROD. i sent it in to MS, who paid for all of the shipping and repairs. they said that it would take 3-4 weeks for repairs, but it only took about 2. i did consider trading in my 360 stuff for a PS3 when i got the red rings, but i dismissed that idea because i'd rather have the less reliable hardware with better games than a reliable system with less games that appeal to me. check out the 360's exclusives, like Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Gears of War, for example, and if those appeal to you, go ahead and buy it. i reccomend the Pro or Elite btw.
I got a refurbished xbox 360, meaning it was one of the first shipped out and got RROD and was shipped to MS, then MS fixed it and shipped it back to the stores.. My xbox since it was refirbished was $100 cheaper, and i've had it for like 3-4 years and i got a RROD, restarted my xbox, and it was gone.. So idk, i trust microsoft and my xbox has never gaven me any real big problems.. I'd say its the best console for gameing out atm :) and i dont use a HDTV i play on some small tv from the 90's and it works just fine.. Even tho next week i'am getting a HDTV with my WII :)fLaMbOaStiNthe 360 hasnt been out for 3 or 4 years yet... it came out November of 05 so its only been about 2.5 years right now.

You probably shouldn't bother with the 120, I have the 20 and there's plenty of room.

RROD is not nearly as common as many on this forum would have you beleive, At it's worst it was only about 35% and has been solved with the new consoles, just get one, you won't regret it. Anyone who tellso you otherwise is just jaded by their experience, or a sony fanboy.
