STOP IT...i'm tired of bulletins that people post that burn video games because of their demos. For Example, Conan, for a demo it had good grapics. The blood, the waterfall in the background of the bridge fight scene, the veins on conan, the eyes of the characters. Demos are like artists sketches, a few scribbles here and a splash of color, but once they go back and erase and perfect the graphics and gameplay, that's when the final game is released in all its glory. STOP talking about how bad demos are when you don't understand anything about video games.

Demos give demos of the full version of games, so demos are almost like the full versions(graphics look very close to each other, gameplay will be mostly the same).

Uh, the whole idea of a demo is to represent the whole game with a portion of it for free. You can absolutely bash a game because of a bad demo. If it wasn't quality, they shouldn't have released it. No one is making them.

You've obviously mistakenly used the word "demo" instead of "beta". Because surely you don't believe that a game that is being released in a matter of weeks (or MAYBE months) is only in its "artists sketches/few scribbles and splashes of color" phase.

That's just silly.

The PURPOSE of a DEMO is for the developers to say "Guys, check out how awesome this game is! Try out a level or two! If youlike it, GREAT, because it's coming out on XX/XX/XXXX!"

A BETA is where the developers say "Guys, we're working on this game, but it's just not quite ready for release yet. Why don't you help us test it out and let us know what we need to work on to get it ready for release!"

Bingo. Conan's nearly off to the presses. What you see in the demo is what you're going to get. Now, I will agree with the TC that a demo is not always indicative of a complete game's quality. But 90% of the time, it is.

STOP IT...i'm tired of reading bulletins that people post. That burn my views because of their opinions. For Example, Conan, for a demo it had good graphics in my eyes. The blood, the waterfall in the background of the bridge fight scene, the veins on conan, the eyes of the characters. Posts are like people's PoVs, a few scribbles here and a splash of color. But once I stop reading and don't click on those topics. That's when the I don't get angry because, I don't agree. I SHOULD STOP reading other people's opinions about how bad demos are when I don't understand anything about video games. I will use my own mind to make choices in the future. So as not to waste time and energy, dispelling any beleifs that I might have impulse control of any kind.

I have to chuckle at some of the things you said. If the developers can't even put together a half decent demo what makes us think that they can put together a half decent game?

"STOP talking about how bad demos are when you don't understand anything about video games."

What your talking about is a BETA, which is an unfinished game still in testing, where as a demo is a finished game and is used for advertising so that the game will sell more units.

In the case of the state vs. Conan, Conan is found guilty of crappy graphics, sluggish game play and horrible voice over and is sentenced to the 2 for $20 pile at your local gamestore

Dude, I'm not sure if you understand them much either. Your analogy was way off. Game devs rarely ever 'erase' anything. Game demos are usually pretty indicative of how the final product will be. It's more like an artist teasing his audience with a small glimpse of the final product. His work is just about finished and ready for prime time, but he just decides to show off a small portion of it to wet their appetite.

Far away from a few scribbles here and a splash of color. That would be more like an alpha release.

First, people need to stop making uselessthreads just to tell somebody from saying their opinions. When people make a thread pertaining to a demo that they didnt like, get over it. Everybody does it.

Demos are supposed to show us a taste of what the game is about. And it is in the best interest of devs/publishers to be able to show off the best and/or the biggest part of what to expect from the game within a self-contained demo. Sometimes this is done by allowing the player to run through a level or two of the full game (like in Bioshock), or have a couple of missions to run through (C&C 3). If the demo sucks, well, it doesn't give a particularly good impression on the quality of the final product. And that's the short and sweet of it.

First of all, those analogies make no sense. Secondly, the whole don't criticize something if you can't do any better argument is stupid. Can game/movie/music critics do any better than the people they're criticizing? I'm willing to bed 99% of them can't. Do you think they should shut it too?

As for the topic at hand, demos are almost always a good representation of the final game. I didn't like the Conan demo; I'm confident I won't like the final product either.

honestly i think conan's graphics were pretty slick and neat...definetly in the cut scenes (Did anyone else think that the chick with the bow look like the chick from 300?). But the camera angle and fighting didn't seem as great as the things ive read about in the magazines. The demo is ripped from the game...im almost sure on it. Once it's released im almost positive you'll see that exact scene in it. I dont really think you should bash things before they have a chance to live, but, i will say that the demo is a direct representation of what is going to appear in the game. People will have their own opinions dude, and your going to disagree...just live with it dude. I dont know about you guys, but im here to chill and have a good time with my 360...not get into a hot steamed debate over what was offered in a demo. If you like it...sweet...if they dont like it...well...too bad.

If you cant get those analogies then well your, well you get an idea since I could call someone the opposite of smart and get modded. Those analogies basically mean don't dislike something just cause of one thing you dislike of it or who,or I can use a simple analogy "don't judge a book by it's cover".

If people complained about -random games- lack of story or replay value they could have a good mature argument instead of so and so graphics are so last gen which a immature person would say and its annoying to say the least.

The game was released along time ago in europe, and the demo was released sometime after that. So i guess what you see in the demo is what you get on the full game when its released in the US.

lol stupid/fanboys are funny, many demos are a finished level, if it 'sa really early demo u could see graphic improvements but this game is almost out, release date oct 23

what are the developers going ok now that we depressed everyone with a ugly demo in the 2 weekswe got left lets earase all our textures and character model and make the game look pretty

developes don't release "sketches" demos are to show what exactly or really close what the game will be like

When a demo comes out within a month of the game's release it is pretty much done. If the demo sucks then I doubt in that month before the game comes out it will magically be so much better.

Demos are quite misleading, take for instance GRAW's demo. My friend didnt like it because the demo had the multiplayer version. He thought is was just another typical FPS, none of the things I described like its a 'third person shooter, you can hide behind walls, take command of troops like in GoW or R6' etc so he didnt like it. I on the other hand watch demos on youtube or gamereplays too for added verification :) But yeah, don't give the game a bad rep because of it's demo...poor Blue Dragon. :(

well these demos are supposed to make us want to buy the final product- if its bad then i say we are allowed to. because we should warn people if the game has a bad side they might not get rid of by buying time- they should be excellent to entice us in. look at tenchu... crud demo, crud game- people need to know this.

Uh, the whole idea of a demo is to represent the whole game with a portion of it for free. You can absolutely bash a game because of a bad demo. If it wasn't quality, they shouldn't have released it. No one is making them.Xerlaoth

Agreed, with the only exception being the EA titles. The football demos are garbage. The full versions are still great.

never release something you wouldn't be proud of. the idea of the demo is to let people know what the other 98 levels will be like.
