Multiplayer is fun, but a game needs a good singleplayer mode. When I buy a game I always play singleplayer first, then when I'm done I check out the multiplayer.
When I buy a game the single-player always comes first. If the single-player is lame or if its online only then I won't buy it. I would rather developers put more effort into a enjoyable single-player experience, if it has good online as well then thats just an added bonus for me. I really don't see online gaming as any more than just a distraction and it isn't really going to expand the medium in any meaningful way IMO.
Games are created for single player, though some developpers use it as a mean for a multiplayer game. When games were first created, which type of games were they? Single player all the way. Multiplayer should never be in the path of the single player (i.e. CoD, Gears of War).
both. firstly i like to go through single player to get a taste for it say for an hour or so, then i will move on to the multiplayer and complete the single player when i get round to it.
For me I like the online component, but not on every game though. Yeah it really depends on what the game is, but I always play the story first before the online to get the skills down.
