Does anyone know how to play mpeg 4 videos on the xbox 360 using media center for vista?

The only way I was able to get a video to stream is to convert the file to .wmv.

You can play mp4 files directly from the media blade on the 360 dashboard without re-encoding. Use Wndows Media Player 11 to share them. Unfortunately you can't play mp4 files from within the MCE interface without using something like Transcode360.

I can't seem to get any files to stream to my 360 from my media centre pc.I've tried downloading and installing the extender software,but pc fails to detect my 360+yet i can go to Media player 11 and select share files with a 360,but still,when i try to connect on my 360,i get message-no pc connected.I've tried dis abling firewall+still nothing?????
