Anyone have any suggestions for an RPG that you don't have to search every single square inch to complete? Meaning, I don't want to have to look under every rock, in every house, in every barrel... etc. to find items. I find that boring and tedious. I just bought Oblivion, Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia. Oblivion & Lost Odyssey both require you to look everywhere for crap items. Tales of Vesperia has a lame camera angle when moving around and I hated it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Tales of Vesperia is without a doubt the best RPG around (for those who like JRPG), and i can't see any problem with camera.

Its kinda hard to find a RPG with that description, rpg is fun because you can hold up think a little bit, not just shoot someone, and that obviously takes some time to "investigate" every corner of a map. I think its pretty fun. :P

You don't have to in Mass Effect, but it helps. Also you can level up decrypting points, and you can find good weapons instead of buying them. So it plays a big part IMO.

Mass Effect doesn't require you to go searching for items to complete any quests, but because you can find good items in containers it is worthwhile checking them - atleast that means you control how much time you want to spending checking them. Fallout 3 has a few missions that require you to go off and find a specific item, and weapon crafting is easier if you hoard a supply of "junk parts", though none of it is particularly arduous. As with Mass Effect there are plenty of good items hidden away in buildings or containers, but entirely optional if you go looking for them or not.

I've never actually tried it but wouldn't Fable 2 fulfil your request?

I suggest Mass Effect all you have to worry about in the game is going to the assigned location and going through some dialouge choices, great combat, and amazing cutscenes.

Yes, I think Fable 2 would work. Even if you do look for an item it is usually righton the main path, and if its not its only a little off the path and often times very worth it.

Yeah but that isn't what TC is talking about.

Mass Effect doesn't make you search. One of the sidequests has you search the Citadel (basically the capitol of the gameworld) for these bug like things called keepers. Other than that the only reason to search the environment for better gear, but that's completely optional.

I only played for about an hour, so maybe I just couldn't figure out the camera system, but when running toward the screen (toward me?), I couldn't see where I was going. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, keep 'em coming if you have them.

Eternal Sonata is a very linear game that does not require much exploration.
