Hi - I've been reading other threads about headphones and am now completely confused as to what to get/amplifier or not etc.

I don't need ones with a microphone I just would really like a decent wired set of headphones to plug into my xbox to play FPS games. Problem is I don't have a lot of money to do it with - approx £100.

Any suggestions?

I suggest any pair made by Sennheiser. I've got some cheap Sennheiser HD210's and they give a decent sound. Plenty of bass.

That is the pair I have and they work great for me.

Bose Quiet Comfort 3. It's probably outside your budget, but you can set up a monthly payment, and their warranty and customer service is top notch. It takes 1 AAA battery, but it's noise cancelling and they sound spectacular.

Turtle Beach X11 & X1 are both $59.99. They are wired and very good quality. I love them. I can't imagine playing without them. IMO

I currently have turtle beach x3, unfortunately when I bought them I did not know that their infrared wirelezs technology dosn't work too well with plasma televisions so I'm stuck with an interference ridden headset. This has put me off wireless ones. I'm looking at Sharkoon X-TATIC or perhaps Tritton AX720. Anyone have any experience of these?
