Clive Barker's Jericho I knew I would like it but I didn't expect it would be as fun as it was. All around great game too bad it didn't have co-op though that would have made it unbelievably great.
Earth Defense Force 2017: I thought it looked like rubbish first time I saw it, but when it came to gameplay and co op, it was fun as!
Saints Row 2; the graphics looked crap, but you cant resist it when you can do a handstand on a car while your friend dives off a cliff.
50 cent blood on the sand: I hate 50 cent. The story was lame, but when it came to gameplay, it was a solid cover fire shooter

Yeah, Jericho was pretty good.
And the game almost screamed coop!
Mass Effect - Thought it was going to suck because I hate the idea of having a SUPER in the future, stereotypical space story type game. But it's awesome even though it is a space type game. (Suprisingly I love Star Wars :P)
Crackdown - Graphics looked lame (at the time) and sounded stupid... jumping from roof to roof? laaaame.... Not really. It's a super addicting game. And the graphics were awesome.
Zombie Apocalypse - Thought it was a typical button holder/masher with lame gameplay. Nope, just a typical addicting game. :P Really fun and time consuming.
Runescape - Ahhhhh. J/K.... I didn't like that game almost at all. lol
My advice... don't judge a game if you've never played it.
Earth Defense Force.. it looks so stupid and I thought I would hate it but I have a few 100 hours playtime in it.
I'd have to say Left for dead... Im not a huge zombie fan but once i played this it made me Pre-order the second one
I was strictly a RPG gamer before I got Shadowrun. Now I'm pretty much just a shooter fan because of it. It was the first game to get me into playing shooters. Also, I wasn't going to get Left 4 Dead. I hated the idea of the game until all my friends got it and I was forced to pick it up myself because nobody was playing Call of Duty 4 anymore. I was pretty addicted to Left 4 Dead for a while. I always felt kinda bad for putting one of my favorite games down for a while until I actually gave it a try.
Fable 2 and Brutal Legend. I never played any rpg's or games like brutal legend so I didn't know what to expect. I downloaded the demo for Brutal Legend and "demo" for Fable 2 and had fun with both. I liked the visual style and world of fable 2, and the characters, writing, and humour or Brutal Legend.
Stranglehold ended up being fun... only for awhile though
LostSoul781
This is true stranglehold was very fun
id have to say batman:aa for sure. i was skeptical the whole time. it was a lisenced game first of all. which usually dont fare well. and im usually not a big fan of third person action games like that. but when i started seeing how amazing those reviews were. i just couldnt resist since im a huge batman fan. i picked it up.and couldnt put it down. everything from the awesome combat system, to the stealth parts, to the awesome upgrades, the great voice acting, and just everything that was great about it.
Project Gotham Racing 3 was a pleasant surprise for me. I know it's received a ton of praise but I don't like racing games. But I enjoyed it alot. So while everyone is playing Forza 3 this holiday I'll be playing my new copy of PGR4!
Eternal Sonata BLEW my mind after I played it with it's spectacular, constantly evolving battle system!
Lost Odyssey was really good too and I find it to be slightly, just slightly underrated. The game had a fantastic setting, characters and excellent themes of existentialism that I just wasn't expecting from it.
