i just got this surround sound system http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4810671 and i have no idea how to set it up, but i do have an idea on how to hook up the audio cables to get it to work. http://www.lenoxx.com/2005/manuals/ht3917/IB-HT3917-WM-E-041506.pdf here is the instructions and what im going for is on the bottom of page 9.

ok so here my idea on how it goes and i will try to be as detailed as possible , and please tell me if something is wrong.

first i got all my consol AV cables going to the pelican system selector... it looks like this 100_0840100_0841

anyway i got the output cables from that going into my vcr WHICH only has one video and one audio port so i have to use a split that goes from 2 into 1 for the red and white plugs. thats my current setup.

now to hookup the sub in the surround sound (look on page 4 of the lenoxx link for the back of the sub)

i buy another split for the red and white cables to go from 1 into 2 and i hook that up to the back of the vcr (which it only has one audio port) in the output port and run the red and white cables from the vcr into the subs DVD IN ports (page 4)

next i would run red, white cables from the output jacks on the front of my tv (RCA 20" Flat Screen TV, 20F420T) (it has 3 jacks)to the AUX IN on the sub. and thats how i would do it.

also i would like to have the surround sound sound coming from my tv speakers as well as the surround.

i hope you can all help me with this.

In most surround sound setups, each speaker has to go into a specific port. Try looking around for which one goes where. Thats all I can help u with. Sometimes you gotta plug your speakers in the sub.

You will not have surround sound if you're using stereo RCA (red and white) cables. The only way to get surround sound out of the 360 is an optical or HDMI cable. That surround sound system is not really giving you true surround sound, it's taking a stereo signal and faking it. If you want true surround you won't get it with this speaker system.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that system will not work. They call it a 5.1 system since it comes with 5 speakers and a sub, but it's not a digital system. I checked the manual and it only has composite audio input jacks which can't carry a digital signal and thus can't carry any discrete positional audio signals.

You need a 5.1 system that has an Optical IN and you can run it straight from your 360. For example, I use the Logitech Z-5500 system for digital 5.1 and it works great.

On the positive, I didn't examine which system you purchased but all surround systems will use a dolby prologic to fabricate you some surround sound. just plug in the red and whit cables you showed into the back of your surround sound unit that says video/audio 1. Keep the yellow portion or component if your TV supports it going to the TV. It wont be great but it will do. If you have the money I would exchange it for one that supports digital audio though. Hope that helps!

Excuse me? If you can't understand what I'm saying then you shouldn't be buying a stereo.

Unless, i'm blind, I did not see "Dolby" mentioned anywhere. That would be your first problem.

since you are not using a digital input(optical or hdmi)you can not get true surround sound(5.1,linear pcm etc).you will only get simulated surround sound which means that sound will come through all channels at once instead of the individual channels

As simple as it can get ...

The equipment that you bought will not work as a true 5.1 sound system.....

Take it back..
