not an ideal solution I know, but if you have a 48 hour trial code which come with some games, you could enter that to get your account back onto Live, then you can access whatever page it was you tried before.
Before it lands you in trouble - there is a rule on these forums that 48 hour codes can't be asked for or given out, so this will only work if you already have one.
I had the same problem trying to get a credit card OFF my account. I used one card to open my account on the original xbox, but then added another card later on the 360 to make purchases. But no matter which card i selected to make a purchase, they always charged the card i opened the account with, (which was my emergency card i did NOT want charged). The only way to remove the card was to call customer support and have Microsoft remove it themselves. I couldn't do it myself from anywhere on the 360 or on xbox.com.
Here's where it got fun. To keep them from charging the wrong card until it was removed, i started using pre-paid cards for my purchases. Including adding a year to my Live account. So i bought a 1 year Live subscription, AND got a 1 year subscription inside the jewel case of a recent game i had bought. I added both cards to my account, and my Live subscription was paid for over 2 years. I checked my account and my subscription didnt expire until March of '09. All PRE-PAID. Then, Microsoft finally, after months of trying, removed the credit card i wanted off my Live account. But, because it was the card i had opened my original Live account with, THEY CANCELLED MY LIVE SUBSCRIPTION. Yep. Cancelled my subscription that had been pre-paid for over 2 years.
Contacting customer support did NOTHING, because the account technically didn't exist anymore. There was NO WAY for me, or Microsoft to access that account anymore, ever. I had to create an entirely new Live account with a new gamertag as well. They did eventually give me 1 year of Live back. Not the 2 i had. And it took at least 6 months before i got that. Needless to say, if the account you have was started with the card you're trying to get removed, DON'T do it. Leave the card on there, even if its expired, and buy your subscriptions at the store. Otherwise, trust me, you'll lose that account forever and have to start over.
Oh forget it, I canceled the whole thing. Called customer service and just cancelled. I'm just going to use silver account, because the last time I played a game online was 4 months ago...wont' miss it.Ilived
If you ever go back to Gold, I recommend paying with the prepaid cards. You don't have to deal with that crap.
