Apparently Microsoft want to charge me for using a pre-paid card, not going to happen.

Email is billing@microsoft.com

Here's the email I got:

Well, considering how often this happens, you should have looked into it before you decided to pay for it that way.

The reason they tried to charge your card is because your subscription is about to end probably. Get a one year subscription card from your local gaming store and you keep your gold XBL account, if you dont do so within 4 days then your account will be downgraded to a Silver account. You arent being suspended from XBL, you just wont be able to play multiplayer games unless you renew your subscription.

idk why they do that but then i again i see why because if u do pre paid card on live the system might think it as a real card and when the system looks all the info for it. it don't find anything besides a few bucks no name no nothing about card. so they might block pre paid cards incase of scamming them somehow so they don't allow it. so ya just go store and buy 12 month +1 month card idk about uk but pretty much every store in us has xbox live cards and the ones say 12 month has +1 month on them so 13 months for same price as buying one on xbl

idk sorry if it i didnt explain it better but i tryed it lol

I'm not really understanding your problem.

Are you saying you used one of those prepaid credit cards to pay for your Live and they're not allowing it? Or did you buy an Xbox Live 12+1 gold card and they're trying to charge your credit card too?

You need to be more clear about the situation.

If you use a prepaid Live subscription card it should add the amount of time it has onto whatever you already have paid for, so if you enter two 12 month cards, it will give you 24 months of Gold Live. If you link a credit card to your gamertag MS just loves to try and charge stuff to it, and puts auto-renewal on subscriptions bought direct from Live. To sort this out you can either try email, which is likely going to be a slow and painful process of getting standard replies. You can try calling MS Support, who should be able to sort it out, and ideally remove the now expired credit card from your account to prevent any future problems. You also may be able to sort this out yourself by going to https://billing.microsoft.com/home.aspx and checking your Account billing. This shows a record of all purchases for your account, and you can also change settings on it. Not sure of all the options, but you may be able to find what you need there.

YOu have this problem because you didnt cancel your subscription by phoning microsoft, you can not just let your credit card expire, it is a automated system and they will still try to charge you. You have to phone billing services and tell them your not using your credit card anymore, and they will take the credit card off the account.

Almost the same thing happened to a friend of mine.

I don't know if it is the same over there, but if you start paying live subscription by credit card , after the subscription ends, your credit card will be automatically charged for another subscription (if you take the 1 month subscription for example you'll be charged every month). To stop this loop you have to call the assistance. My friend also used a code, but they charged him anyway and now he has 2 years of live subscription (but I'm not sure, I think that he received his money back).

Then it's probably just a glitch in their system. Call and sort it out. Simple.

it dont matter about what pre paid card you bought, that has nothing to do why your suspended. you never cancelled your yearly gold subsription. you should of cancelled before the renewal date the live subscription. because you never had the money on the credit card details you gave them for the yearly subsription payment then after you renewed for the year it tried to charge your cards. it wasnt sucessfull so you owe them money for the live time you bought. now after trying again with no payment or updated card details they close your account until you pay the balance of what you owe them you can bang on all you want about buying a pre paid card, but you never cancelled your yearly subscription. you should of cancelled before it renewed and charged you for another year. or you should of bought the gold prepaid and used it before the current sub ran out and your card wouldnt of been charged. now u have to pay what you owe. other wise after so much time the account gets permantly deleted for breaking terms and conditions. if you have any arcade games or dlc these will go with your account and be unuseable.

This explains it. I only use prepaid cards so I didn't know they did that. This is the precise reason I only use my credit card for points... microsoft has EXTREMELY shady busines practices. Just call M$ and tell them you are not using the card anymore and that should sort it all out.

All they're saying is that your account will be closed if you don't pay to renew it. What exactly are you whining about?
