isn't there a way to save your data to a personal computer, and transfer it to the new xbox? i'd search xbox.com, i swear i remember reading something about that.

You can buy a memory card for 30 bucks from EBgames. Copy all of ur saved games to it (excluding content from the Marketplace), clear ur old HDD, and transfer the save files to the Elite HDD from your memory card. Then sign-in to your profile and re-download all of the content (to the Elite).
If you want to do that for free, you have to buy the Elite before you trade your Premium in. Then you have to mail a completed form to Microsoft to get a transfer cable. The form can be found here.
There is a cable you can order that will transfer your HD image from your old HD to the new HD while erasing the data on the old HD. You will need both units to accomplish this so you will need to buy the elite, order the cable from the website, do the transfer and then sell the premium.
You can easily redownload all your downloaded content as Live tracks what you purchased and will let you down load it again if you don't get the cable and use a memory card to transfer your saved games.
It's a big pain because according to MS, the elite was not designed to replace a premimum system.
the elite dont come with the wire, the separate 120 gig drive does however but I dont know if you can buy it separately, you can prolly find this wire for cheap on EBAY tho, thats an option. Or actually I think there is a way you can order from somewhere at xbox.com where you prolly type in the serial of your 360 not sure which one tho, the serial is in the area of your front USB ports under that flap by the way.
You can download the order form from Xbox.com and fax it to MS. It will take 3 or 4 business days to arrive. But they will send you a free transfer kit and the process is about an hour and a half. You can only transfer from smaller hard drive to larger. The 20 will still contain the content after but you can erase it. And erase everything on it but xbox live game downloads, just to make ur system easier to sell.
