I've had my system for a couple years, only ever had the occasional freeze/disc read error.

Now I can't finish a match in FIFA or COD without it freezing.  This has been going on for about a week.  It's driving me nuts.  No red rings.  What can/should I do about this?

The same thing happened to me a while back just before my console died. Chances are that the RRoD will appear sooner than later.

freezes to the point where you have to restart the console or freezes for a few seconds and is fine again?

I have had both problems and for the first one i mentioned nothing seemed to fix it so i had to call Microsoft and send it in. There are a few things you should try though. Unplug everything from you xbox and wait like 3 minutes then plug it all back in, if it still freezes take off the hard drive and play the game that freezes most and see if it will still freeze if it doesnt you made need a new hard drive. o before you do any of that stuff clear your cache by going to system>memory>hit "Y"> and then hit "xx LB RB xx"( it maybe be LB RB XX LB RB)>yes and see if that helps. if none of this stuff works call Msoft.

If it just freezes for a few seconds then is fine unplugging everything and clearing the cache worked for me

sorry about my grammar I am tired

You are in the last stages before RROD. Just ride it out a bit longer and it will fail permanently and give you the RROD. I suggest you leave it on a lot and constantly launch games and let them freeze. Restart. Rinse & repeat until it RRODs. You can do this while watching TV or some other task and just relaunch on commercial breaks.

My system just had the same freezing problem, so off to microsoft it goes. It seemed to happen to me after xbox live went down for that 24 hours.

Well, this exact thing happened to me prior to my 360 dieing ultimately giving me the 3rrod. So just know that your console is on the verge of hardware failure.
