how do you hook up 2 original Xboxes to each other. Do u need a special cable or just an ethernet cable plugged into both consoles?

You will also need a router inbetween the two xboxes, along with the ethernet cables.

Just get a decent length of crossover cable. That is all you need. No router needed. Cheaper to make one yourself because for some reason they usually charge more for it. Even though it is RJ45 just with a different wiring config at the terminal caps.

Still have to use a crossover cable or the router method.

The other day my friend and I system linked with some Gears 2 just using an ethernet cable and it worked fine. I know for the original Xbox I could never get Forza to system link with an ethernet and had to got the crossover route.

The cheapest way if you are going more than a few meters is get a short crossover cable , a double female adapter ($1 at the dollar stores or $4 most other places), and a suitable length of regular ethernet (cat5) cable. then you can have a very long crossover cable for much cheaper.

I don't see why not. As long as the game supports system link. The other poster could be right to - you might only need a regular cable and not need a crossover like on the old xbox.

I heard 360s don't need to crossover cable but if u have crossover use it. But u haven't try using ethernet cable which came with 360 box.
