Everyone made such a big deal about the covering system in Gears of War, but am I the only one who preferred the way games such as GRAW or R6V approached thier covering systems? Don't get me wrong, I thought Gears was a great game, but hitting the A button to take cover seemed very clunky to me and it often resulted in doing something completely different than what I wanted to do. GRAW and R6 both made taking cover seem very natural and effective, either by just by running up to cover and holding the directional pad towards the object (GRAW), or by holding down the left trigger for as long as you wanted to ramain behind said cover (R6).

All three systems seem broken to me. I got used to Gears' cover system so I no longer get whisked into cover when I'm trying to run out of danger. Gears is a pretty frenetic shooter, and being able to take cover very quickly is a boon in this type of game.
The GRAW cover system isn't perfect either but it is good for this type of tactical shooter; however, it still seemed unwieldy to me. Sometimes you wouldn't get into cover when you ran up to a wall, and the whole thing seemed a little "detached" to me.
The R6 cover system makes sense for a first person shooter and it was executed well, but holding the left trigger for long periods of time (when under heavy fire) isn't much fun.
If they can somehow combine the cover systems from Gears and R6, I would be very impressed.
