The 360 is so loud!

Has anyone else noticed how loud the 360 is when running?

I have a Wii too (the 360 pwn's it in everything) but it's not nearly as loud as the 360.

Why does it have to be so loud?

Because it has 2 exhaust fans at the back, so it's loud.

Also I heard the disc drive is the fastest among the 3 consoles, that's why it's loud, but you can actually reduce more than 50% loud by installing game into HDD.

It is pretty loud, just download your favorite games to your hard drive and listen to the sound of, well nothing, trust me i've heard it. It also reduces load times in games, not by alot but still, it helps.

It is quite loud. Mine has been louder than normal as of late. Whenever I play it sounds like my neighbors started up a chainsaw, and that's after installing games to stop the disc drive from running.

Side note: don't cut the fan cords. Not only does that disable your warranty (which you might need since now the fan's not running and your Xbox will overheat), but I heard the loss of power sends a red flag to Microsoft that you've modded your console.

this is not a good thing. my friend buy 3 x360s. I have both ps3 and x360. I play my ps3 more. the x360 over heats to fast and is very loud. the tv sound needs turned up, thats bad. my ps3 is not that loud. I cant even hear the disc spinning in it. I dont want the Red Ring so I dont play it that long at once. lol. I dont think the systems hardware is made for the power it has. thats why its so loud. this helps the sales go up, people keep buying 3 or 4 systems after they over heat and break. if mine breaks I might buy another one. or sell all my games. I dont know.

I am not bashing any system. I own both. This guy that started this post was the frist one saying this, I am just saying that mine is very loud also, and all my friends x360s are very loud. all of them I have heard are loud. and my ps3 is not. thats all I'm saying.. lol.. please lol please lol please lol.like lol. look at this guy. lol.

I didn't really notice until now...
why not just turn up the volume of whatever you're playing? I mean the console isn't quiet, but as long as you have mediocre speakers you should be able to drown it out...

Surround sound 5.1 or 7.1 can take care of this easily. But of course my hearing isn't what it used to be. :lol:

If you have a big enough hard drive, try installing games onto it as this will greatly decrease noise

However maybe do a search on what games not to install as i've heard that some games slow up if installed. I think fallout 3 and halo 3 are examples?

My 360 is WAYYYY louder than my PS3. I have all the games I play on a regular basis installed except COD4 (cause the disc is scratched) and its the same no matter what. Has anyone ever used a decibel meter to see how loud it is? I think I'm gonna get one and compare the ps3, my laptop, pc and 360.

I play my 360 on a 19" tv that is under my 40" that my gf watches and she is always complaining about how loud the 360 is and it IS loud

The 360 is loud, yes, but it never bothered me. If it bothers you that much, install ur games to your HD, simple. Even with a 20gb HD, you should still be able to install at least one game.Spirit_Warriors

I know, it's rediculous isn't it? My 360 keeps me up at night it's so loud, the neighbours complained, the police were called...it's a nightmare.
