I liked Oblivion a lot better, but both are great games.

I would just say go with Oblivion, and if you really like it, pick up Morrowind later since it's only 10-20 bucks now.

Morrowind will eventualyl disappear off of store shelves if it hasn't already.
Its the better of the two games as far as I'm concerned.
Get it now, you wont regret it...unless you're a graphics whore.

i liked morrowind better but there were 2 major problems with it.

1- the combat/magic system. when you first start the game and you try to attack or cast a spell it will fail 19 out of 20 times. that makes sense for spells, but its annoying. ive died many times because ive tried to cast the recall spell while losing a battle and it failed. for fighting though its just stupid. the first fight i ever got into was against 2 rats and i died because i kept swinging and missing instead of doing less damage like in oblivion.

2- stuff disappears. i had a collection of daedric weapons and armor (which is pretty hard to find in morrowind) on a table in my house and i didnt play for a month. the next time i played i came back and almost all of it was gone.

if they fixed those 2 things the game would be 5x better. you never run out of things to do. you can spend days exploring random caves and tombs looking for enchanted items and weapons. and the best part is theres no stupid leveling system like in oblivion. when youre a higher level you can actually kill stuff easier.

Oblivion, but only because I played that before I ever played Morrowind I think. They are pretty different games though.

All Oblivion did was water down the amazing Morrowind and slap some unbelievable graphics on it. However, the combat is also 300% better in Oblivion.
