Bought it because I adored the original Xbox. Have never regretted it and the 360 has held up perfect from day one with no rings of death or any other crap I keep hearing about. Bought a PS3 in January too, since I have also supported their brand from day one. Don't regret it either.
I got the 360 becuase it is simply the best game system of this generation. I also got a PS3 but I don't really play games on it. I just use it to watch Blu-ray movies. Movies look symply amaizing in 1080p. :)
Short and sweet! I bought mine because I actually was more impressed with the Xbox than the PS2 last gen so since the 360 came out first I picked it up and I have been VERY happy since. I really don't have much against the PS3 but I do feel like the 360 is a better system and Microsoft is a better company to roll with (they seem to listen to their customers way more than most companies).
Price and game selection. And now that the PS3 game selection is starting to rev up, I'd still choose it b/c on those "PS3" exclusive games are now going multi platform
When I had a PS2 it went broke (laser went bad) pretty quickly so I switched to the original Xbox and never had any problems with it and stayed loyal since then, plus I like the game selection the Xbox 360 was boasting at the time of launch....well, the games that were going to come out, not the poop launch titles.
The main reason I got a 360 was that it was a one year head start, I got mine at launch (anyone that didn't see the PS3 delay coming probably has bigger issues than which console to buy). A year is a long time to have to wait to enter the next-generation. And of course, when a console gets a head-start, more and more games come to the console because of the bigger market.
games games games. right now, there's just nothing that really interests me on the PS3 (resistance? meh - maybe motorstorm, but i think it would get old fast). until Lair and MGS4, i just don't see the point in putting down $600. that, and i truly believe that Sony hates their customers. i don't want them to go away (competition makes for better product), but i hope they feel a little sting for their arrogance.  btw, love my Wii and DS.Â
The reason? Oh, where to start. First off, when you get a PS3, what you're getting is not a game machine. Granted, it does play games, but this is hidden by the "extra" features: the blue-ray disc, the expensive processor. The list goes on. But what Sony seemed to miss is that people buy a machine like the PS3 to play games. And what's on the horizon for the PS3? Excuse me, I mean what is on the horizon for the PS3 thats NOT coming to the 360? Well ummm......ummmm....they have MGS 4. At least for now. And look at the games that are in the top 10 for 360: Gears, Halo 3, Guitar Hero II, and now the 360 is getting GTA IV and Devil May Cry 4. Sony's in trouble

Halo and The Elder Scrolls series, for how long they can keep my attention. They hold the 1st and 2nd place there, and thats the main reason i buy the games i buy. i dont want to go out and spend 50+ dollars on a game that is going to last a week, but maybe thats just me =/

well one reason was because i already had xbox live second the ps3 was to much money for to little selection of games also that i could link the 360 to my comp and play my music on the good speakers ^_^ also i feel like sony is just robbing its loyal cosumers with this outrages price as much stuff i bought for the ps2 they should be giving me a ps3 for free out of thanks lmao

well, that and a lot of people can't afford to have more than one console. that's pricey. i'm an adult with a good job and i don't want to fork over that kind of money. i can't imagine what its like for parents (possibly a glimpse into the success of nintendo). right now, in a pinch, i'd go 360. a lot of games that were PS3 exclusives are turning multiplatform anyway.
