I hear that this game is great, I know this game is great, but why haven't I picked this bad boy up? It's only $37.99 at best buy in my area, so it isnt the money. What's the deal? Am I not convinced yet?

Well, all I can say is why I haven't personally picked up CoD4 yet;
a) There are way too many FPSers coming out
b) There are way too many Military based games coming out
To me, "CoD4" will be skipped just like "Jericho", "TimeShift", "Turok", "Darkness", "Area51 B.S." and such because I've already got the likes of "Resistance FoM", "FEAR", "HL2 OrangeBox", "Gears of War", "BioShock", "Halo3" and such on the shelf, and there are more interesting FPSers coming like "Dead Space", "Fallout 3", "Riddick: Dark Athena", "Killzone2", "Haze" and such on the way.
Also, is it just me, or has the glutton of Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, SOCOM, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Ghost Recon (not to mention the thousands of poorer knockoff titles) completely boring you to tears with the whole military shooter stuff.

You realize that 3rd person shooters are essentially FPSers when you're firing right?
Bottom line is, 3rd person shooters are shooters too, and there are too many of them coming out at once.

if you read my post, I never refered to GRAW, R6 or COD as "poor", I listed those as good ones, and made mention that there are a tone of "poorer knockoff titles" to go along with the good ones.
even as good as SOCOM, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games are, do we really need 3 more Tom Clancy games every single year :(

sorry for the confusion..I dont mind that many tom Clancy titles each year. as long as theyre as good as GRAW and the last RB6, Im not complaining.
I guess Im a little bit bored with SC. the first one is a classic. 2nd and 3rd were kinda same old. 4th was boring. I might get the new on but that depends on many things.

I wouldn't have passed up The Darkness, but that's your choice. Haze hardly looks interesting. Have you seen the recent trailers?? ::yawn:: Free Radical should've been working on a new Timesplitters instead. Riddick is a remake of, well Riddick with an extra 3-4 hours tacked on for Dark Athena. So does that 3-4 hours justify $59.99 for a game that sells for $9.99?
Dead space looks like a cool new IP, but with such little information out, it just seems like some dude in a space/welding suit, shooting zombie/aliens/[enter cliched enemy type here] with make shift mining tools? Hmm.
Of all the game you've listed only Fallout 3 looks to truly take the crown. Provided they don't drop the ball that is.

I didn't "pass up" on The Darkness, I played the demo and honestly just didn't care much for it. And yes, I've seen all the recent trailers for "Haze", "Killzone2" and "Dead Space" which is why they're on my "wanted list"; they look great to me personally.
And I agree with you on "Fallout 3", its one of my most anticipated titles.

I hate to think that you "pass up" games based on demos, when even the demos themselves say that it's not a representation of the final product.
The Darkness has a very well written story and some truly memorable characters. True, it's a FPS, but I think the devs choice to make it such isn't a means to compete with the likes of Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell (clearly not since the don't even hold the same theme), but a better way to immerse you into the role of Jackie. To have you see what he sees and feel that he feels.
I will admit I'm a bit biased, since I was a fan of the comic. It's a great game none the less, but again, your choice.
And if Bethesda can pull it all together, Fallout 3 will win GOTY '08 (hopefully it still makes its Fall 2008 ship date). Mark my words!

In all honestly, I don't see anything wrong with judging whether you like a game based on the demo, especially if its a game that isn't at the tops of your interest list. Again, when I've already got like 10+ FPSers on the shelf and at least 5 more biggies upcoming, its going to take a "special" game to impress me, and "The Darkness" just didn't to personally, probably because I strongly dislike the mafia/hitman type stuff as subject matter.
That said, I know what you mean about being biased towards certain games out of personal attachment. Take a game like "Resident Evil 4" for example. It completely crapped on the series and had absolutely nothing to do with the RE storyline, and it wasn't even a survival horror game, but I still own it because its part of the RE series.
Anyways, back on topic, I still just think there are way too many Military based games and FPSers coming out right now, and thats why I am yet to bother with CoD4 personally.
