It is a remake with the same original story is what they have said. They have said it will have enhanced graphics over the PC version - with additional quests - but essentially the same story. So pretty much the same game - it's not a sequel as some have speculated.
I doubt it'll look better than the PC version, especially with graphic mods availible on PC.You can doubt all you want - but that is in fact what the developers are saying. Here is a direct quote from the developers taken from the GS official announcement article:
"The console version will look much better. [It] has a new engine with dynamic lighting, dynamic shadow, normal mapping, there's also new vegetation. In the console adaptation, enemy behavior will change a lot, there are new behaviors, new actions that can be performed by the enemies, the enemies will move much more dynamically."
All the way around - it sound like the game they are releasing for the consoles is an ENHANCED enhanced edition. They seem to be souping it up quite a bit. With running it on a new engine even - anything is possible for improvements. The console version is going to be superior to the PC version according to the developer - I'm not new and am a PC gamer as well - so I know that this is unusual however it sound like it's the route they're going. Since the market of console gamers is MUCH larger than PC gamers at this point I have no doubt that they are looking at the dollar signs as the reason for the best edition ever coming to consoles.
