The xbox live petition...will it work?

this idea = Epic Fail.

The only way MS would ever care is if all of those people stopped paying for Live. Kinda funny that they put that it their motto, yet almost all have already paid for the service. Never going to work.

The only way it's going to become free is if a massive amount of gold users(like myself) finally say enough we're not going to be charged for this anymore and cancel there subscribsons. If enough do M$ would have no choice to make it free.

People just have a bad habit of wasting money. I mean look at cable 60 bucks a month? What are you crazy!! I'm not spending that kind of money for television.

Also back to live the subscription dosetn annoy me as much as the double dipping. After paying up fifty bucks to M$ I expect all download-able content from them to be free right of the bat. I shouldn't have to wait to play Halo2 and Gears after spending fifty on live then 60 on the game it's ridiculous. If we all stand up and say it's unreasonable it will change look at DSL they were asking too much everybody stuck with Dial up till they lowered there prices.

Even if people boycott it. Because even if half the subscriber base (lets say for ease purposes the subscriber base is 8 million now [I'm sure this isn't the actual number, but forget that for a second).

Even if half of those boycott it, they're still making 260 million CDN a year.

260 million CDN a year is more than 0 dollars a year.

Besides, it's not THAT expensive. 65 bucks with tax (canadian) a year. Considering the relatively poor internet service of the other two consoles (not trying to start an console war here, I think everyone can agree that cost asside, XBL is the best internet service), the money is worth it.

Well i just think you are being cheap......i mean 60 bucks a year is not that much money even if you are young. Just FYI lawns don't cut themselves :P

Also if you want free onlineservice you should go to the "other" console........and you'll see why M$ charges for Live.

please dont pull this card on kids playing halo 3. If they have a guardien buy the game with them they have every right to play it. Its america isnt it?

So has anyone else heard about the petition in xbox live about making it free? apparently if like 500,000 something people switch their motto to "LIVE SHOULD BE FREE" microsoft will make it free. I doubt itll work but its worth a try...in the last 2 days i swear ive gotten like 500 messages telling me to switch my motto and ive seen lots of people with that motto. Its getting kind of annoying. Oh well I finally switched.army-of_one

Ofcourse people want it free, people are cheap and will do anything for free stuff. But making it free will make it worse. There are two possibilities:

A. Microsoft won't get any profit from xbox live and it will get worse, even worse then PSN.

B. Microsoft will act like Sony and make developers pay to make their games playable online. Which will result in games that have online on PC (and maybe even Wii) but not on 360 and PS3.

I'll gladly keep paying to have the best online network with the most games on it.

hell i wish xbox live was free, but really whats so bad about paying $54.11(just bought one lol)for an xbox live gold card(13 months). I mean your paying just to play online, other then that everthing else you have access to, like the xbox live market. Lets see though they keep all demos free, have free pictures and themes as well as trailers and even from time to time they have betas, which have been free. The only thing you have to pay for is the movie rental,themes,pictures,downloable content(sometimes free). Now if your mad because they make you pay to rent a movie thenI guess blockbuster and all the other movie companies should be free. For the themes and pictures just don't buy them its that simple. The downloable content should cost money there adding on to your game, which wasn't possible on the old xbox. Its all about economics, your paying them to use there service(servers,content etc). you have to look at it from a business point of view and not a consumers. If they make it free there stupid, so IMO your wasting your time trying to get people to put "make xbox free" as there motto. Also considering everything, microsoft is very generous and you get great quality for what you pay for. Man who would thing that a 17 year old kid such as myself could actually learn something in school.

500.000 votes is to low. You need to get 51%. But if that would meen less work being done with Live i sya HACK NO.
Live need to get more work done to it. So it gets better. If its free I fear it would get less work done.

Game expansions that are available through xbox live are made by the developers themselves, they can't just be free. If Microsoft forced them to make them free then they simply wouldn't make them for the xbox version. Some content that is made before release, taken out and sold later should be free or simply in the game form launch. But post release content deserves a price, they did put time in it after all. The price could be a biut lower sometimes but free is just rediculous.

PSN isn't crap because its free, it is becuase sony is inexperince in the online field. I mean come on PC gameing has allways been free, you think any PC gamer would accept the notion they would have to pay to play conter strike tomorrow, or pay to get downloadable maps? Your just not getting anything for your fifty dollars, hell Microsoft should at least make its first party downloadable content free, give us something here.

Then again how many of you out there are PC gamers? I think you all just accept this becase you don't know about the golden age of PC gaming.
