I read in the lastest Game Informer that there are 4 different developers working on Bioshock 2, and that the team at 2K Marin was asking Ken Levine for more help on the game, and that he refeused. There have been the delays, and there are some whispers that things just are not going well. And when I watch the videos of Bioshock 2, am I the only one that gets the impression that, graphically at least, it looks worse than Bioshock? For a game so close to being released to look so poor graphically and animation wise, it really worries me.

Bioshock is my favorite game ever. I am aware that many of you thought it was really over-rated, but for me Bioshock is the greatest game I have ever played, and I just shutter to think that the sequal will be some terrible mess. What do you guys think?

I think it will end up pulling through. It's the sequel to a AAA title and it has big names working on it. Considering it's a goldmine, they probably will lose more money if they were to "cut their loses."

Also, games tend to not be that graphically powerful until the last few monts of development, and some games have major graphic impovements right before it goes gold.

I wouldn't worry too much. I am going to play through Bioshock when gaming dies down (might not be until Christmas) so I can't pass judgement on it yet, but I think they're going to be in a good place with it when it finally comes out. Keep your chin up and trust 2K Marin to follow up nicely. If nothing else Multiplayer looks really fun

Actually, a different development team is on the multiplayer portion of the game so that the core development team (the ones behind Bioshock) can focus on the singleplayer portion of the game so that won't be compromised. I've never heard before that 2 additional teams are on it. And I don't think that's really true. Maybe 2 additional teams within 2K. But that's not surprising. For example, a game made by Ubisoft Montreal that's high profile, often get help from other Ubisoft dev teams.

I think I did hear that they are using multiple teams on it in a Game Informer or on the HotSpot or something, but that's not out of the realm of possibility. They'll use multiple teams to develop different aspects of the game and the main team will integrate it all. I think it's becoming a more prevalent practice to make sure games meet their schedule with enough development time to incorporate everything they want.

the campaign will be as good if not better than the first game, but the multiplayer looks pretty bad. then again they still have time to work on it.

I was aware that another developer was working on the multiplayer, and that developers often help each other, but 4 developers seems too much for a game to be going smoothly, especially a AAA title. And why wouldn't Levine help? I read some rumors that he thinks the game will flop, but they are not subsantiated rumors or anything offical.

I hope it turns out well, and I think it probably will, but the development process has not been smooth IMO. Remember what happened to Too Human...

If that all is true then maybe. Still, there is no way of knowing 4 development teams on one game is bad per se. It can be very very good for all we know. But I think if it really sucks balls, they will just push the date back to Xmas 2010 instead of releasing a crappy game.
